I am new to this forum, and Honda’s in general. I want to build a street car that a can take to meets and race. I think 250-300hp would be a good number as civic and integra’s are pretty light. I have no clue where to start. What would be my best engine choice? K24, b18, b16, or something else? This car will be a cheap fun weekend car. I’m am considering 2000s integra’s. What should I expect to spend on this build? Any help is appreciated if there is any threads similar please drop the link.

a well planned and executed F22/F23 turbo swap into an EG/EK civic or DC integra would be an affordable route to get that power level without worrying too much about it blowing up. they're easy to find at the local self-serve salvage yard so if you did blow it up, replacements could be had pretty quickly. upgrade parts are widely available or adaptable from other engine models. bonus hood clearance compared to dual cam H-series engines.

K-series tend to have more power potential and are becoming more popular as the prices are coming down and supplies of good used engines go up. you're probably looking at a bit more cost up front, but possibly less fuss to get the power numbers. a really well done naturally aspirated K20/24 will get you to your power goal, but a modest turbo build would be more streetable.

Cheap, easy and fun I would vote for a ls turbo. You can make 250-300whp on a stock long block and in a civic hatch that will move really well. I had a stock longblock ls turbo eg years ago that went 11.5 at 123mph, mostly eBay junk to be honest.

LSX rwd conversion has been done, but it’s absolutely not cheap. There’s even a guy on here with an Acura RSX with an LSX up front and in the rear, mounted sideways with transaxles of course, and turbocharged.

LS/vtec is the better option for you if you’re looking for something cheap and pretty quick.
