couple questions about a b20 going into my Ej8
So ive been debating on doing a swap on my 98 4 Door. It has a D15b Vtec right now(Y8 head), and is alright but im lookin for some more power. I was thinking about going with a B20b for now and later swapping a B16 head on it. when im looking i see a couple different B20b's. I see the 2 with the short intake manifold and one with a longer intake. I understand there's power differences in each but on one site i see it listed by intake manifolds and Hmotors does it just by the power. So which one has the long intake manifold the one with the P8R head? Am i going to have a problem if it does come with a long intake manifold considering its going in to a civic and not a teg? or should i just go ahead and do a B16a? Thanks guys please help as yall were so helpful when i was doing my first swap last year.

Yea for the most part. My orginal plans were to do a B16a and make itlike a 4 door Si, Cuz i found tails that r like Si's and the front end is being worked now with new headlights, fogs and diff grill. but i was thinkin about B20 cuz i only know of 2 people around here runnin them and no B20v that ive seen yet.

I see you're in VA. The B20 is classified as a "small truck" motor, and thus is an illegal swap in our cars in our state. You probably don't care, just thought you should know. I know the cops are royal ******** out there at the beach.

If the cops are in a particularly shitty mood, but even then they'd have to know what they were looking at.
Basically, just hope that they don't start smogging at the beach. They talk about it every damn year, but they never actually do it.

I have a GSR in my EJ8 and it came with stock small headers, then i got some long DC headers and got my exhaust piping done with a BuddyClub pro muffler.

If you're doing a real all motor build, it doesn't matter if there's a higher compression motor available - you can replace the rods, pistons, and valves to change the compression.

If you get the b20 with the longer intake which i believe is the 96-98 spec b20b4 then just swap it out to an LS intake so it can clear the hood. You will have use a complete LS intake with fuel rail and injectors though.

Yeah the long intake is a bad idea you won't be able to put a hood on it trust me a just got a b20b with the long intake get the short one to save yourself some trouble lol

@ b20ek9 unrelated question for you: I have an engine the same motor that I pulled out (incomplete build) of a 1990 EF wagon. The transmission label is missing. Any idea what transmission it could be?
