Default b18 distributor guts into b16?

For a while my tach has been acting up. I had a zc in the car before and the tach was fine, but when I put my b20 VTEC back in, it started doing the same thing again. After 4200, it starts jumping around and I can't tell exactly where my RPM's are. I've tried other tachs that I know are good as well. My buddy suggested check the wires coming from the dizzy and see if they're making good contact. Long story short, the tach is still acting up and I have an ls dizzy laying around. I don't want to cut the legs off and run it with one bolt in. That's not my style. Is it possible to take the Internals out and swap them?
