B16a Swap.. IAT Sensor Question.
Well, this swap was not done by me, i acquired hte car. Anyways. I was digging through the car to clean some stuff up and noticed the IAT sensor dangling on the back of the block.... So I procede to look where it fell out of etc. Nowhere can be found except when searching on the board I noticed the location of the IAT is on top of the intake manifold right by the throttle cable.
Well I see that area, its a nice little triangular shape... but no hole.
so as of right now the car reads its IAT from the engine bay.
Im curious, what would happen if i just put a resistor in that plug say ~3k Ohm
Is it that critical that IAT be read legit?
Why is it that this Intake manifold has it blocked off?
(heads date is 1990 and its a b16a.. jdm motor)

Re: (ShoGinn)
I am wondering too. I have a spare b16 intake manifold and on the one on my car it has spot for the iat to plug into. On the spare it has it blocked off. I thought the prevous owner did it well now I know I'm not the only one with one.
Bump cause I would like to know also.

Re: (vtecn8ive)
I had a sencond gen JDM B16A and it had the IAT sensor in the manifold, not sure if it was in the last runner or not, but I know on the 99-00 Si. the IAT sensor is located in the intake tube. Right now I have a B18CR and it's also located in the intake manifold.

sounds like the man you have is a 99-si one. those don't have the hole for the IAT like the older B16a mans. the IAT is on the intake pipe. you can use a R man and that has the port for the IAT and good for turbo

Re: B16a Swap.. IAT Sensor Question. (smart monkey)
thanks man, guess i'll start searchin for a type-r manifold...
wish i knew more about honda shiz..
Anyways type-r manifold is off a B18c right? only difference in the b18 and b16 is the block correct? head is pretty much the same except that the type-r is better of course...
any info is great...

Type-R is from b18c(R, JDM) or b18c5 (usdm). It has shorter and larger runners. It also has a bigger Throttle body. The Type-R head is the same as the b16 head except for factory port job, cams, springs, and valves. the b18c1 is a different intake manifold (just a little did you know tidbit).
