Aftermarket Honda ECU chips (Kenji) and Scan Tools
Does anybody know if any aftermarket chips (kenji, J's racing, Mugen, etc) for P28 will allow communication to OBD-1 scan tools? I am running a Kenji chip in the P28 and I used 3 different types of can tools and it refuses to communicate. this sucks! any ideas?
thanks,

What is the reason for using a scan tool?

I don't need to see DTC's as much as I would like to know timing advance information, because nobody can tell me what sort of advance these chips run. I'd also like to see injector pulse width information to determine if I need larger injectors sometime down the road.
I have used a (Vertronix?) MasterTech scan tool and a Snap On "red brick scanner" (sorry, I don't know the model)
Any ideas?

It depends, when I do a chip, I put whomever's map onto a stock base, that way I know I am retaining all the sensors.
A lot of the "racing" heritage programs have disabled sensors. You could pull the chip, and pop it into a burner, read it, and then open it up in a rom editor, that would give you your timing maps.
