2.0 L VTEC....B18 or B20
I've spent a long time dreaming about my next steps to take the performance of my JRSC '99 Civic Si to the next level. I've toyed with going turbo but rejected it because I just love the driving characteristics of the JRSC. I've considered the new intercoolers offered by both LHT and TeamKLR but they're kind of on-hold for me because they are not as tried and tested as I would like and I am not yet convinced of their value (except if you want to increase boost past 9 psi and/or live in high temp climes). Certainly I will be going Hondata soon though plus larger injectors. My current thought is to increase displacement and go with a B20 (not sleeved) or a bored out/sleeved B18b motor with my VTEC head. I would upgrade the pistons and rods. I've done a considerable amount of research and, at least on paper, it looks quite straightforward and will get me to where I want to be (around 275 whp). I have some questions the answers to which I have not found in my research and wonder if you guys can help me.
1. Is this really a straightforward job for my car and for the home mechanic (obviously using a good machine shop here and there)?
2. What engine option would be best for the JRSC and 275 whp? Cost effectiveness and reliability.
3. How would I best get to 8-9 psi with the larger displacement engine? What pulley combination?
4. Any tips/warnings from someone who has done this?
Thanks.

Re: 2.0 L VTEC....B18 or B20 (BritSi)
well i havent done it so take my advice for whatever you feel it to be worth but getting 275whp out of 8-9lbs of boost on a JRSC would be nearly impossible and would require serious mod's in the rest of the motor
however 275whp with a good turbo setup wouldnt be out of reach

Hi Jeremy. That's where you're wrong. I know at least two people who have got 275 whp from a 2.0 L VTEC with a JRSC. It's very realistic, believe me. Endyn has even got 300+whp from a NA 2.0 L VTEC!!

If it will fit, go with the CRVTEC + JRSC... @ 9 psi you should push 275hp

did i say it was impossible? No...hell F1 engines make like what 300hp/L, of course you can get 275whp out even a B16 with 8-9lbs but it would cost some serious $$$ and even more serious tuning
