Its more similar to a '92 - '95 civic auto to manual swap in that you have to deal with a pocket mount (either cut the old automatic version off the frame rail and weld on the automatic version, or buy a hasport mount that just bolts up like stock) otherwise its pretty similar.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Correct. I highly recommend the mount because its easier to work with. Other then that you could follow this thread.
I'm still surprised you're responding to this thread, but anyway its a good thing because I read over this thread twice and saw some stuff not noted. (I am also trying to do this as well myself, spring time, its to cold now. )

1. With the pedal assembly I just purchased, I saw a sensor on the clutch and I believe the brake pedal (if it is not the brake pedal, excuse me, there must be two sensors on the clutch then) has one as well. My question to you is, if I can use the existing brake sensor to reattach to the new brake pedal, what will I use or be doing to connect to the sensor on the clutch?

2. Where you cut out that section with the dremel to allow clearance for the shift linkage, do you happen to have any pics posted as to where and how you guys mounted the shift linkage onto the frame/undercarriage/ w.t.h. its called? just curious to know how you mounted the shift linkage in place.

Did you put the manual transmission on, attached the shift linkage to the tranny and figure out where to place it?

Just trying to get some answers to the "small" questions, thanks

Some clutch pedals have 2 sensors (they're really just momentary contact switches) some have one, the first one, which is found on all US/Canadian civics is the clutch start switch. Which basically means you must depress the clutch to start the vehicle. The other switch (if equipped) is for cruise control on the LX, EX and Si models, it used for the factory upshift light on the VX and US CX hatch (CXs sold in canada do not have the upshift light) For more info please see this write up I did on the starting circuit aspect of this swap I did a while back https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/5th-gen-civic-auto-manual-starting-circuit-right-way-2348557/ sorry for the crappy pics.

You don't need to dremel/cut anything for the shift linkage, unless you are doing and H/F/K series with cable shifters. The hole in the floor is actually bigger on the automatic models. What I did was drilled the spot welds out of the piece the inner shift boot on a manual civic snaps on to and put it through the automatic hole (it fits, it just needs to be squeezed very slightly) and bolted it into place. As for where to bolt the linkage once you remove the center console you will see what appear to be about 1 inch in diameter with metal covering them from the bottom, drill your 2 holes directly in the center of these. I'll try to get some pics up in the next couple of days so this makes more sense.

well i dont know if this was mentioned or not. if you have everything to do the swap from a auto to man. Do you have to change out intake. the reason i ask is because i have a hole complete manual car and i was told all you need is just the ECU and the engine bay harness. beside the ohter lil accessories

so i should only have to change the engine bay harness and the cluster as well as the ECU far as electrical. I got the rest in how to do just that portion just the electircal.

Oh Christ you're going for it? Are things pulled out right now, or still in pre-swap phase?

i am still lost on the hole intake swap. I looked at the motor and both of my motors are y8 and i have everything to do the swap. I have 2 cars and 1 is a 96 ex manual and the other is a 97ex auto. so if i have everything to swap do i still need to do a lil wire splicing even though i have the harness from my 96 engine bay.If so what part do i have to go back and refer to on the illustrations from the swap. I just wanna do it right the first time with out any codes

great post. did this august 2008 with a b18c1 swap into a 99 dx automatic. thanks for the great info.

however, just recently (february 2009), my engine is hard to start and it also shuts off while driving. i think the problem might be at the ignition switch since i have to mess with it while turning the key over. if anyone has had the same problem please let me know.

here is the wiring that I did:

99-00 civic ex engine wiring harness and a boomslang obd2b-obd2a adapter harness connected to 99 integra gsr p72 stock ecu

iab system is wired in and works

no check engine light since the first start

all you need is the actual manual brake pedal, not any brackets, it fits just fine, the hardest part will be getting the pin back through the pedal while you are lying contorted on your back peering up under the dash. The clutch pedal and bracket is a completely seperate piece, the holes are already there for it.

For the clutch pedal it would be best to get it from a junkyard as you need the pedal/bracket/bolts/switch(es) so it would be much cheaper that way.

p2e for nonvtec
p2p for vtech

dont forget about the obd2a (96-98) and obd2b (99-00) factor

I may have another p2e if youre interested.

Sorry I dont check up on this thread as often as I used to since they took down the "recent topics" so I cant see it up to date. I just found out it became a sticky which is cool. If anyone has any questions that dont get answered feel free to PM me.

Great writeup! I see that it only took you 8-10 hours, not too bad! I'm sure it will take me longer to do my friends. He wants to change out his 98 Civic CX into a manual and I'm supposed to help. This will be a great help to us! thank you again!
