Re: [FAQ] ***H22A into Civic EG/EK INFORMATION Post all H22A Hybrid info here***
I swapped an H22 into my 95 civic and have encountered some problems that hopefully someone can help me with.
I got the swap in but upon trying to drive it I had some shifting problems. 1st gear is hard to get into, 2nd is easy, 3rd gear is really hard to get into, 4th is easy, 5th gear is super hard to get into, and finally reverse is easy. So, in short, all forward gears are hard to shift into. If I start in a backward gear and then shift really quickly forward it goes in easier.
I don't know what's wrong and I've spent a painful amount of time trying to figure it out. If someone could help me that would be incredible.

did you figure it out? most likely your mounts are off and/or its too far forward or back. aka linkage is getting binded up.

I am looking for info regarding the H22 PLM header in the EK chassis. There are two versions, the tri-y and 4-1 drag. I'm wondering which one fits the best (I don't want to do a lot of fabbing for a custom test pipe). Any one have experience with either header in the 96-00 civic?

I recently picked up a 96 hatch with a h22a swap. The car will start perfect on a cold start, after getting to operating temp and being driven around I will shut it off and try to start and it just stutters and doesn't start it will turn over freely just not start. I will let it sit for 20-30 mins and it will start just fine again. It did throw a cel and I jumped the plug it blinked 8 short blinks, I looked it up I found it to be the code for the tdc sensor, could this cause my no hot start problem, any input is helpful!!!

hot start shouldn't have anything to do with TDC,. with tdc it would run or not. run like crap or good. I would check out the IACV. was that still on in the swap. no iacv or crappy iacv will be crappy especialy with temp relation.
but if you have code for tdc. fix it. check timing. if its good. your sensor is doodoo

The one right on the front of the manifold behind the injectors? If so, yes it is still on the car. I took it off and cleaned it. I started the car back up and unplugged it, would the car idle any different or throw a code if it weren't working. Because it doesn't effect anything when I unplug it while it's running.

Little tid bit of info:
It appears that the 5th gen Prelude shifter is the exact same as the Accord type R CL1/4 shifter. It is well documented that the 5th gen Prelude shifter will work for H series swaps, but no one has ever, in all my searching, said anything about the CL1/4 shifter working. But they look to be the exact same. Maybe someone can confirm or deny

Do you really need to bold it and make it stupid large? Plenty of company's make Engine harnesses now.

New to site and had a couple of questions. I got my son this accord SW and found out it has a H22A motor in it. After we found that out , we found out the V-tec was not hooked up and the ECU was the stock one. So I got a P13 ECU and wired up the v-tec but now it gives me a code of 1 and 36. I found the number 1 is the O2 heater but cant find info on the 36. Any help would be great. it is also a auto-tranny
Thank you,
Thank you,

A quick google search told me code 36 is traction control. Nothing serious I don't think. A bad O2 sensor could cause the ECU to run your motor less-than-optimal though, so I would get that checked

Thank you for the info should I use only Honda O2 or can I go with a aftermarket one?
Thanks again for the info

Well it's not necessarily a bad sensor, it could be bad wiring or something else affecting the sensor reading, so I might get it checked instead of throwing money when it might not directly be a bad sensor. Honestly I have no idea how good aftermarket sensors are, I only ever go with oem

Don't mean to bring up old threads, but what is everyone using in terms of distributors/ignition coils?
My car is a 2000 EX model, D16Y8, so it came with an internal coil distributor. Throwing an F20B blue top engine in it which came with an external coil (funny because I thought these usually came interanl). I don't have the harness that came off the F20B so I have no pig tail for the external coil, but the coil is a TC-19A which I believe some F22 sohc Accords came with.
Regardless I am NOT going to be buying any aftermarket engine harness unless I absolutely NEED to. Just gonna try to modify my sohc harness.
I've weighed my options and theres 2 ways of going about doing this:
1. Convert to external coil with a pigtail from the junkyard and somehow finding out which wires go where.
2. Finding a proper 8-pin internal coil distributor like the TD94U pictured below (Which I might end up doing but I need opinions here)
Just wanna see what everyone else is doing since it seems like no one ever mentions this

I am so excited and scared at the same time. I just purchased my first H22a Automatic Engine and Transmission for my 1991 Honda Accord EX. I am having a problem finding an ECU that is Automatic and I am also looking for the wiring harness so I don't have to splice wires, do anyone have any suggestions where I can find one?

Hi I currently have a 99 prelude stock that has took a nice beating from my now ex. I've changed out the radiator holder once already and is again damaged along with other things (hood etc...) I have a 92 civic hatch that previously had a b18a1 motor swap. I believe they used the civic harness with some mods. My question is will I be able to do a h22 swap on the hatch with that wiring harness?
