Re: is an s2k the way to go?
Your post is very vague. The cars you have described are VERY different. In terms of power, I'd say they're relatively close, but that's really about it. You're comparing a FWD coupe/sedan to a RWD roadster (that mimics a mid-engined car due to the placement of the engine behind the front axle).
Is this going to be your daily driver? Weekend racer? Fullout race-only car? Grocery getter? Since you're in the S2000 forum, I'll speak to the S2000 a bit. Sorry if my post goes everywhere, I'm at work and just typing off the top of my head.
I use this car as my daily driver. I'm a 31 year old single male. Currently no kids, or gf. Having a 2 seater roadster/convertible does not affect my day to day living. The trunk space is fine for me. It will most likely not be fine for most. Anything larger than a medium sized duffel bag, and you're outta luck.
The car is not "comfortable" for many. To me, I like it. It's noisy, bumpy, and if you're not careful in the cold and/or wet weather, it will bite you HARD. The car is very sensitive to tire pressures and low tread. A few psi low on one side, and the car will steer to the opposite side quite hard upon acceleration.
The good parts for me are too long to list. I love the car. I love the way it looks and the way it performs. Sure it's not going to be anything in a drag race, but in the twisties, you'll be hard pressed to find anything better other than a Lotus or something. In the winter, I drive it as well. Don't even bother backing out of your driveway in the snow if you don't have dedicated snow tires. This is a MUST if you're going to be driving it in the winter months (provided your area has "winter months").
You'll wear out your rear tires in probably 10-15K miles regularly, even with normal driving. This is just the way things are with this car. Be prepared to spend some good money regularly on tires. The fronts have to be replaced approximately every other time the rears do. Shifting is most likely one of the best in the automotive world. Clean, short, and quick shifts in every gear.
There are a few differences between the model years from 2000 to 2009. There should be a sticky somewhere outlining the differences. Depending on the reader, some of those differences can be significant.
Well, I'm sure there is tons more. Hope this helps a bit.

I drove my not so stock H22 Prelude today and the AP1 is better in EVERY performance catagory. The only downfall is the lack of room in the trunk but I didn't buy it for that.

Like a few guys said, it's very vague. If you want something professional that still has VTEC get a TSX or a TL and go from there.
Have you driven an s2k yet ? Si, DC5, or AP1|2 while the same brand they are different animals, drive them all and come to an educated decision. If you've been in the game long enough you should know what to look for, in the end you'll be the one driving it.
Myself, I've been dormant for 6 years and I came back like herpes, just playing the waiting game to pick an s2k as a second car so I can mod the hell out of it without having to worry that the car is pulled apart without having an alternate mode of transport.

S2000 is the most fun out of the cars you have listed, but we need more info on your wants/needs in the car, also test drive all of them

Re: is an s2k the way to go?
i bought an s2k, frigggin love it.
harsh DD at times honestly. love it tho.
30 miles driven everyday gets tiring, so i want to invest to get a nice DD like a sedan Si.
having a sedan Si as a DD and an s2000 in the garage sounds like a sick combo to me (:

Re: is an s2k the way to go?
I own a ported/cammed K20 civic(which is now F/S...) and I wanted an S2000 but had my reservations about going into a Stock S2000 after driving my K20 for so long...Feared it would be hard to sell as I would miss the speed and fun of it. Long story short, I bought my '02 NFR S2000 and I haven't even driven the civic since then. The most fun I've ever had in a stock car in my entire life, period. Get one, drive it responsibly and you wont ever look back.

Re: is an s2k the way to go?
when my S2k leaves the bodyshop i'll let you know. It'll have been the longest hiatus I've taken from driving an S2000, about 10 months. Honestly, it's like being on withdraw because I'm driving a lifted truck and bucket Accord currently.
For me it's like a "fix" when I've had a long day or when I want to start my day with smiles. Whether it be VTEC, turbo spooling, blower whining, or front wheel lifting, I like my vehicles to give a rush when it's fun. The S2000 accommodates that need while still looking relatively up-to-date and has many of the same features as modern cars that are several years newer. Push start, OEM HID's, electronic tops, etc. and all the creature comforts + leather interior to give it that refined feeling. It's a perfect compromise between practicality, fun, cost, and reliability, but thats just my opinion.

Re: is an s2k the way to go?
I've had many cars, all modified (1982 VW Vanagon, 2000 Civic Si, 1993 Prelude Si, 2001 Civic sedan, 2007 Civic Si, 1985 Porsche 911) and I traded my Si in for a 2006 NBP S2000 last September, it is a completly different driving experience than everything else i've driven, yea its loud and bumpy and cramped inside but I love it, wouldnt trade it for anything.

Re: is an s2k the way to go?
i have been thinking of getting a s2k my self but dont know if i should get 1 or get a evo b/c a evo is 4door and all wheel drive as well, but then i think to my self and im just looking for a fun car to drive and seems like a s2k would be sick to have and drive i have been a honda guy for years and dont know if i could change to a evo,i currently have a 02 civic si that i bought brand new on the show room floor with just 6milles on it and to this day only have 52k miles on it still, it is a hard pick for me both seem so much fun and im pretty much just wanting to park the si and drive some thing else for a while, and payments are prolly alote for both, b/c i am only 22 and live on my own and paying for everything and working 2 jobs and stuff but i will just keep saving money till i make my mind up i guess

Re: is an s2k the way to go?
iv been a long time eg9 fann..(hence the screen name,lol)....i have a low rider with the b16a...as an enthusiast i would love to keep my eg....but in a modern world owning a s2000 is the way forward....im at the point where the b16a is a good engine for me to have some fun in..like hitting 8k daily with high octane fuel....puts a smile on my face and realistically speaking is pretty damn fast if you have a heavy foot,lol....the rest of the cars pretty clean too but am tired of being looked down up on by people in newer cars....my eg's outdated but 1 hell of a performer
i now have a few thousand to spend.i went to view a s2k today and when i sat in it damn, jus the seating position and feel of the car makes you forget everything.
i was thinking of forging my b16a engine/turbo-ing etc etc (lets not go into discussion) but then thought id spend all that money, have a fast car and STILL feel 'outdated'.
i reckon if the b16a puts a smile on my face....instead of spending more money on it to go insanely faster id opt for the s2000...high revving like the EG,feels heavy like the german cars....other jap cars have the tacky interiors....has an awesome 2.0 240bhp engine...and just has the 'cool' factor.its everything all the other hondas can never become.the s2000 is a nice change.
as for RWD compared to FWD integras/type r's etc etc....well they just b16a's with faster engines but still not as fast as a f20c and not as cool as the rest of the s2000.
downside is i wont be able to say 'oh its only a stock 1600cc mate' to all the 2000cc plus subaru's/audis/bmw's.i was just stuck to the bumper of a 2.0 turbo (petrol) audi a4 (2005) before i wrote this post.and i enjoy telling em my 15y.o car made em look weak, lol.
