I'm in the process of rebuilding a MY2000 S2000 that overheated. The head was warped .018", I had a machine shop mill it and grind the valves for me. The valves are straight and seal like they should. The block was also warped, though. I found a replacement block with stock bore/deck height that just needs the cylinders honed and am wondering what it'll take to swap that block in and have the engine back up and running again. As far as I know, the crank, rods, pistons, etc. are fine, but I'm wondering what I'll need to do to compensate for the .018" shorter clearance. Will I need a thicker head gasket, or are there better options?

Start over and get a fresher block, who knows what other problems will come up once its rebuilt.

its not just "re-honing" the block...that block has FRM sleeves and if you don't find a shop that has experience with that type of block, youre going to have more problems than youre asking for

Sounds like that block got sold anyway. He has another one, but it needs new sleeves, and I'm pretty sure that having it re-sleeved will cost more than I'm willing to spend. Right now, I'm looking at either getting it back up and running again for as close to $1000 as possible (and I don't know if that's even feasible, but I'm keeping my options open) or parting the car out, and that's an absolute last resort.

just use your stock block it will be fine .020 isnt alot on timing dont worry just put it back together it will run fine..

Just get a new head gasket dont reuse the crushed one since you had your head cut so much..

Should be fine, just run new bearings, thrust washers, piston rings, headgasket, and crank seals and you should be good to go. If your total resurface/flattening is less than 0.040" I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeh get a new oem honda gasket and get new oem bearings from honda no where else.. no race bearings are only for race and few races at that.. get a honda bearing sheet from honda it tells you what bearings you need there is codes on your block I know on the D series you have to have the engine split from the block to read the codes then you match it up to the crank codes and you get your colors and bearings.. also if the pistons are original from the engine I would just leave them alone other wise dont get cheap rings get oem honda..
