Buy 6, put in 5.3 if it's an AP1, and 5.1 if it's and AP2.

i think you may have that reversed, or maybe some other reason for the 5.3 for ap1.....

my owners manual says 5.1 for my 02' ap1

not that .2 is that big of a difference

mr projekt says 5.3 for ap1 and 5.1 for ap2

i said my owners manual shows 5.1 for ap1

these pages show 5.6 for 02 ap1 04 ap2 and 06 ap2

just make sure the car is on level ground (gas station platforms are almost always level....

and check the oil there, make sure it's up to the full mark...or close to it...

5 full quarts bring me to about 1 hash mark off the top, consistently.

I usually run 6 quarts. I have noticed that my car likes the added oil (y)

But when all else fails go by the dipstick.

Horrible advice. Too much oil = more windage losses. No wonder your damn name rings a bell.

"Highly recommended for track S2000s. I typically overfill my car with about 6 quarts of synthetic oil."

"Highly recommended" was referring to the baffled oil pan genius.

I do have a baffled oil pan and i have been running 6 quarts for a while now. I understand about what overfilling can cause, but the car seems to like that added oil.

According to Helms for MY00-03:

4.8 quarts - oil change
5.1 quarts - oil change w\ filter
5.9 quarts - engine overhaul

I usually just buy the 5 quart jug for my oil changes. After about 2000 miles, my engine "makes room" for another quart and I add it. As long as you are between the lines on your dip stick then you are ok.

Simple answer... put in 5 quarts, check the dipstick. Pour in whatever is necessary!
