POLL: AP1 Front w/ Lip or AP2 front with lip????
So I just picked up an AP1 in White with 74K. I got it real cheap because it needs some love. The front bumper needs to be replaced and I am going to go with OEM w/ Lip, but am torn between the AP1 and AP2 bumpers.
Don't know how to make a poll here (if even possible), but please everyone chime in on which of these two you prefer:

To your first part: I really like qualities of both the OEM bumpers...so I thought I would ask others.
The AP1 has a wider opening for eventual front mount, and also has a spot for fogs if I wanted.
the AP2 looks sexier to me with the aggresive center section.
I should just flip a damn coin or something.

I have the AP2 with CR lip, it's not as aggressive in person, in pics it looks bigger than it actually is(at least to me) but lately I have been thinking about getting another AP2 bumper with AP2 OEM lip and swap them in and out as I please

i'd say keep it orginal and go with the ap1.

He is a long time close friend, so it will be done right regardless of which bumper I buy.

who cares what the cr lip looks like the whole purpose of it is to generate downforce and this is why i would run it
other than the cr lip i like the ap1 with oem/chargespeed/gears lips plus the with the ap1 bumper u have the option of making those fake brake ducts function or be a hardparker and throw the ek or odyssey foglights in there

Ap2 front end is more refined, newer, and looks cleaner. Ap1 bumpers are outdated and just look plain old compared to the newer style. For this reason I vote ap2.
As for the CR lip, it has a purpose. It does look aggressive but I've seen many cars pull it off, especially on BB. However, NFR looks great with it also. On lighter colors, like white and silver, I don't like it as much, but it still looks good.
The primary purpose of it is to increase downforce and to make the front end more aerodynamic. For this reason alone, it is extremely worth it, especially if you track your car.
As for the CR lip, it has a purpose. It does look aggressive but I've seen many cars pull it off, especially on BB. However, NFR looks great with it also. On lighter colors, like white and silver, I don't like it as much, but it still looks good.

I think that I am starting to lean towards the AP2 for the reasons you mention in the first paragraph. The AP1 has some nice retro feel to it, and there is the option of brake duct/fogs, but I think the center ducting just looks that much nicer on the 2. I also just found the AP2 center console assembly for cheap at a wreck yard....woot! (and full black carpet and black leather center console carpet all for 350 shipped!!!) The transformation of my puke red interior is beginning!!!

Negative on the CR lip. Even if you track your car there are better options, and they'll look better day to day.
My S is an 03' Ap1 GPW with an Ap2 front bumper. I can appreciate both. Ap1 looks good on BB, SSM and the equivalents. You really can't go wrong, but I'd go with Ap2 on GPW.

Best response so far. Thank you. I do realize the impact of the CR lip. While I do plan on tacking the car a couple times a year with my GF and her STi, I really do not like the styling enough to justify it. The car will primarily be a cruiser in the months of nice weather we get here.

Since I manage a car dealership I have a hook up on custom leather. They are going to do the seats and door cards in two tone Black outer, with Alacantara in a royal blue (think stock STi seats) in the center for 700 bucks. They are also gonna add new stiffer foam padding to the drivers bolster that always sags, and put some extra lumbar padding for me and my shitty lower back.
