Re: I'm sorry mods... I think we need a rambling thread. (Mr. Projekt)
Great thread.
Name: John
Age: 26
Ride: MY05 AP2 Silverstone
Quick intro:
I'll admit it, I'm a noob. But I ain't stupid. Actually, I take that back. My stupid-*** is rolling on OEM tires that urgently need to be swapped out (recommendations to reputable shops welcome) I'm always eager to learn, and I'm a quick one at that ('**** feels like a cover letter to a resume). I'm always down to learn more about cars, as they're my passion. If I didn't have to work on the daily office grind, I'd love to work doing something, anything in the automotive industry. Livin' frugal right now, as I'm savin' up for a wedding ceremony this upcoming May. So with that in mind, all I've been doing lately is workin', sleepin', and hitting the gym to get my lazy-*** in shape. Any time I can get behind the wheel is fine by me with my hectic schedule. I need to hit up a track event.
1) Who does your regular scheduled maintenance? You? Dealer? Trusted "friends" shop? Any random shop? "Maintenance?"
- After having a dealer quote me at $80 for an oil change, I had a friend teach me how to do it my damn self. Easiest thing to do. To anyone who doesn't know how, do yourselves a favor and learn. I need to save every penny I can right now, and I ain't about to waste money if I can do it myself. For other, more technical jobs, I have a mechanic friend who hooks it up. There's no way in hell I can rip apart an engine and put it back together, but I'll tell you what, if you show me, I sure as hell will remember how to do it the next time. So if anyone wants to teach a noob how to do an alignment, or a valve adjustment, holla!
2) How many of you track your S? How often?
- To date, I haven't tracked the damn thing. I kinda had some bad luck with it prepping for an event, which kept me from attending a run at willow. Since then, I just haven't had the time.
3) Do you think your mods actually make a difference in terms of performance and laptimes?
- I'll get back to you on this one...
4) Those that don't frequent the tracks, do your mods suit the purpose of a daily driver? Wheels excluded.
- No serious mods right now. As much as I want to mod, I'm too chicken-**** to do it to my DD. This should change once I can get out and get some track time, though. Only mod I have is a countersunk ****, which odd to me makes the shifting feeling different. I think it's just because I was so used that small oem one.
5) When you look into an aftermarket part, what matters more?
- For me, it's all about the quality and gains. Most of the time, you get what you pay for. Measure twice cut once.

I keep it around 260. 130 for me, 260 for her, 10lbs of estimated food we'd eat = 400lb weight limit for the S!
Nishant you effing ninja. Jump in here just to clown on my girls.
