no there not to tall im going to sell my s2k and just putting back to stock since it is just gears and a intake... I love the 4.77's it was perfect on the track on sat.
and for the record on 4.77 i am getting better gas milage in town and on the freeway...
AND the ONLY way you could be in vtec on the freeway is if you have a window switch on your vtec. there has to be factors other than rpms which is rpms, load, throttle position, oil pressure

lol maybe its his clutch flywheel combo, i'd imagine it'd take quite a bit more effort to keep the rotational inertia in check on the hwy with a 11lb flywheel and have gears spinning.
dunno how you got HIGHER gas mileage on the same motor with shorter gears, but i don't have them and i don't plan on getting them. to me it would make sense if you got poorer gas mileage because its generally understood that the faster you can rev high the faster the revs will drop too so to keep the flywheel spinning and/or for city driving to get the car going you would be revving more than you would on the stock 4.1's but thats just my perception of it.

yes but if the motor is out of a the torque curve on a stock motor then its like lugging the motor which creates more heat and is outta efficiency range... my teg that had a blower on it at 12psi(lots of drag) with the 4.4 gearing in the 5 speed sat at 5200 at 80 i would get 30-32 mpg easy and i got the exact same in town... but the torque curve on that was way more broad then a na s2k...
all i know is i get 260-280 in town driving where as i used to get 220-240... and the car is so much more alive

haha maybe we'll just have to agree to disagree on this, doesn't make sense to me.
the bottom line is that its the same motor and the only change is gears. if you can hold at a given RPM in the correct gear lets say 75MPH@ 4500RPM which is the 4.77 setting i believe right? it doesn't make sense to me that 75MPH@3500 RPM would be less fuel efficient. And for highway cruising there's absolutely no way that the 4.77 would be in the same gear and be at a lower RPM.
dunno if this applies to OEM but im looking at my tune's AFR map and given the revs it steadily increases in AFR as RPM's increase as most would expect. The only range where it would be somewhat the same would be between 500-1250RPM's

I'm probably the only one in here who couldn't care less how low my S2000 is. I have to drive up on a block of wood as it is to get my floor jack underneath it.
