^ where are you finding mountains in illinois bro? just wondering because being from illinois i must have missed that one...but i think you missed the point...i wasnt saying dont drive it, im saying im getting tired of people thinking they can take the air box off to get a "better" sound or keep asking "why is my tranny so notchy", or "hey, look at the thousand dollars i spent on **** that doesnt do anything for me" and thats just stupid...and threads like this are popping up more and more often
yea, facepalm for actually driving my car, unlike 90% of the hardparkers on honda-tech.

Re: Drove an AP2 today.
this is why i hate most honda guys...who gives a **** if you can hear VTEC, thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard...i had a fully built ITR motor in my integra and you could barely hear VTEC yet i made 210 to the wheels and the bitch hauled ***...i guess if i could have heard VTEC better i would have been faster
my advice for you is dont buy one...im tired of people treating this car like its a fukcing civic...its getting old and it seems like every other day theres a new thread on how to destroy your S2K...its sad and i really wish these cars werent as affordable as they are...but thats just my opinion
to all of these. It's not a civic. The people who talk about how mad tight VTEC is are usually 16 and wouldn't know what VTEC was/does if it sat on their lap and called them dad. If your civic sounds soooo sick and the s2k just doesn't compare do us all a favor and keep driving the civic.

Thanks for all of the replies. And just to answer a few repeating statements, the Civic will not be traded in. The S2000 would be a 3rd car in addition to the Si and Evo 8.

Re: Drove an AP2 today.
Civics are wicked little track beasts, but then so are S2000's.
Difference is, S2000's look better doing it. I think i'm with Reddots.
2 cars for similar duties? - pick one and throw all your money at it, then post pics so we can live vicariously through you.

Re: Drove an AP2 today.
Maybe they are impressive on the track but they have never caught my eye as something i would want to own...especially the ep3. I would possible consider a old ef with a k20/h22 swap or something but still not my cup of tea. I am not into making economy cars into sports cars

Re: Drove an AP2 today.
With my cars, I not only want a good performing or looking car, I also want a good sounding car. I will not apologize for that. Its my decision and money and I will do as I please. Everyone is different and has different desires when it comes to cars.
But yeah, anyone know of any videos where I can hear the AP2 sound with a simple airbox mod or CAI? Everything on youtube has aftermarket exhaust and test pipes....
I'll check out the VSA button when I go back to do another testdrive Friday.
Oh, what are some areas or items I should look for that are S2000 specific on used S2000s? Any problem areas that should be glanced at?
Thanks for the replies.

1. it's a shitbox, so you drive it like you would drive a rental
2. it's $2000 vs. $250,000+. you do more dumb *** stuff with it.
Now, if I was going to the track for a race, Scuderia. Going to race with a bunch of friends or at a porsche club event, Civic.

Re: Drove an AP2 today.
I've raced a Scuderia quite a bit, and it's incredibly impressive and a blast to drive. But, it's SUPPOSE to be fast and handle well. There's a level of expectation there. Chasing down a LP560-4, or a handful of Porsches... sure it's fun. However, chasing down those same cars in a $2000 shitbox is just more fun.

i see now...when i first read that i thought you meant youd rather race a civic period...i totally understand now and hell, i wouldnt take my ferrari out to a club event either

Re: Drove an AP2 today.
lol why are people telling this guy not to buy a S2000? Why does the OP think that the S2000 doesn't feel "punchy" when he drives a B16A2 coupe? I have a 99-00 Si. When it still had the B16A2, I thought I was going backwards when I floored it. The S2000 felt like a rocketship in comparison.
Yeah, the civic made more noise...but it didn't go anywhere. It has a B18C ITR swap in it now...and it's still significantly slower than my S2000.
My ITR makes TONS of mother F-ing noise. It also...is much slower than my S2000.
I also can't believe OP didn't feel the VTEC engagement point. The S2000 has a noticable gain in acceleration when the cams cross over. The B16A just...makes...a lot of noise....
The sound of VTEC from outside the car is also more veluptous in a S2000. It's deeper, thicker, steamier, and has bigger bewbz.
Also, your civic had an intake. That has a lot to do with the sound. Get over the sound. The car outperforms the 99 Si in EVERY way. It also out performs or matches the (stock) EVO in pretty much every way. I love my EM1...but...it's really no replacement or comparison for the S2000.
and LOL at the other guy racing in the "mountains". The car was totally meant for that. Infact, when I bought mine, they had a brochure about how I should go to the mountains right away and try out the car's uncanny ability to scale mountains like a mountain goat. It came with mountain shoes incase one was stuck up there. And a GPS device that only works for elevations over 11000 feet.
If I go buy a mustang, I'm sure there will be a brochure in there about street racing. That's what the car was meant for.
