Default wtf?!?!?! what dizzy is this??

ok, so I am finishing up my h22 swap, and putting on what I though was an h23 dizzy I bought, bolts right up, without any problems. I go to plug the harness up to it, and the first plug plugs right up, but the second plug is completely different than the plug on the harness...

here is a pic of the plug that fits...

and here is a pic of the plug that doesnt...

...the harness is an h23 harness, and my h22 internal coil dizzy and my f22 external coil dizzy have no problems plugging up, but of course I dont want to conver to internal coil, and then the f22 dizzy wont bolt to the engine...so what dizzy is this from??

what distributor is it? only you can really tell, all distribtuors have a stamp on one of the ears/tabs for mounting them. For example OBD1 H series ones are either a td60u or td61u depending on whether they are internal or external coil.

anyway let us know what the stamp is, and also what year and model car as well as what year and model engine you should have.

ok...I will check tonight, but my dad is up there working on my car as I type, and just said that he thinks its ancient and that its possibly out of an 80's mocel accord. but im at work right now...

the car is a 92 lude S model, the harness is an h23, and its a JDM h22a...

My bet that it is a TD-60U that your trying to hook-up. I purchased one off ebay and some ******* sent me the TD-60U. Doesnt work with OBDI harness. That is is the dizzy from the 5th Gen or the 96 Lude. If its a TD-61U then I've never heard of that before.

I believe that is the obd2 96+ Prelude Dizzy. That one does not have the CKP+-/TDC +- wires since the obd2's have these sensors mounted on the oil pump.

You will not get this dizzy to work unless you feel like swapping out your oil pump to the obd2, installing the 4 wire sensor, installing the different crank gear, and chopping up your h23 harness and running it to the crank.

Get the h23a obd1 dizzy... trust me.

yeah, I knew I could probably convert it, but it probably isnt worth the hassle. But on a side note, my dad flew in from TX this weekend and converted my h22 internal coil dizzy to external coil, as I didnt know how to do this and was going the easy way out and trying to buy a new dizzy...

on me

EXTERNAL IGNITION COIL will have 3 wires coming out of it. 2 connect to the distributor and 1 goes to a power source.:
GRN@coil, GRN@dizzy - connects coil to dizzy
YEL@coil, BLK/YEL@dizzy- connects coil to dizzy (should be a LARGE wire)
BLK/YEL - connects coil to power source.

boohyaww!

that is a 1997-2001 prelude distributor.
it has two sensors "missing" if you are looking to make your swap obd1.

I think the casting is the same, so it *may* be possible to get a F22 distributor from a scrap yard and transfer the guts to the one you have to get the crank sensors. Good luck.

Honda probably designed the internal coil distributor to save space in the engine bay.

Yeah the external coil was a bitch to mount on my h22 swap. Looked like ****. Then i ended up stuffing it near my thermostat housing because it was sightly.

not really hard for me once I converted, I knew a guy with an extra bracket b/c the h22 coil bracket and the f22 coil bracket are totally different.

as for the advantages, I dont think there is any power advantages, but I hear the ext. coil idles better, and thats about it. But I was already external coil, and I wanted to stay that way.

I just made a small bracket and mounted it near the distributor.
