Re: why is my Vtech cutting out!?
ok, lets start from sqare 1.....
first, check your CEL bulb.... does your CEL come on for a few seconds when you turn your key.... then go off....
(CEL) check engine light.....
if not, don't go ripping your dash apart yet, there's an easier way....

Re: why is my Vtech cutting out!?
are you using the ecu that came with the motor, or the one that was in your prelude already.....
does your H22 have a vtec oil pressure sensor..... or just a bolt in its place
if you are planning on getting a chipped ecu, don't worry about this now, because a chipped ecu will 99.9% get rid of your problem..... it did for me

Re: why is my Vtech cutting out!?
if your running a JDM H22a with a USDM p13, thats probably your issue...
there are different fuel maps on the JDM, and USDM ecu's.... do a search on the internet for more specific details.....

Re: why is my Vtech cutting out!?
here is what I did (because I'm not a rich man by all means....) this method is not bad on the wallet...
I got a p06 ecu, did a little soldiering to add vtec, and iab's.... along with the actual chipping itself... (tons of resources on internet) in the end, I had a chipped p72....(the ecu that came stock on the Integra GSR b18c1)
then I got the ostrich 2.0 emulator...., and the Hulog, for datalogging... giving me complete control over the ecu. I use crome pro, but you have other choices for software.........anyway, after everythings set up and working
- all I gotta do is grab my laptop, jump in my car, plug 2 usb cables in, start up the program, then start car...
I can then change settings in real-time.. meaning if I turn the idle up on my laptop, my car goes vroooooom! instantly. the sky's the limit...
I think a chipped ecu is definately in your best interest.....if you want to do any engine mods, or high performance ****..., you need the ability to edit your maps

Had the same problem a few months back. Threw a VTEC failure code. I was low on oil and found out that "the shop" (we'll leave out names for now) that changed my oil decided that my car needed 50 weight in it.
Oil changed - all better now.
