Water leak bad weep hole?!?
So first my lude is a Honda Prelude 1993 Si, 4 speed auto, f22a1 engine. Also its in Australia and has 231000km on the clock.
Issue is a water leak, behind the engine, we found it over a pit, like near the top, (but hidden by hoses from top view), at the back, on the left if you stand facing the front of the car.
It drips while the car is running, and gets worse like a constant every 3sec drip after shut off and continues for a lil spaz. Have overheated car using A/C, turned off ac and fan, went down to normal 3 bars, did have no water. water needs to be topped up every week or 2 weeks. Or the car starts overheating.
Ive read the weep hole, but I have a slight feeling this is a lil bit too much comming out of it.
Question is pretty much is it the water pump? How do I test this? Could it be something else with a simpliar test?
Yes I use water not coolant im not a billionair

Its possible the heater to water pipe hose is leaking. Its a bit of a bitch to get to if it is. I have to pull the driver side axle to get to it to remove the hose clamp on the water pipe.
The heater side if that hose is even more of a bitch to remove and you gotta cut a couple slits in the hose and pry it off cause it gets baked on there badly. This assumes its that hose thats leaking.

Re: Water leak bad weep hole?!?
Yeah, could be one of the hoses to/ from the heater in the cabin, could be the water pipe on the back of the block, could be the water pump itself, could be thermostat housing.
Best way to narrow it down is to clean the engine off well, and then dry it and watch where the leak starts. If you use coolant it will be more visible due to the color, and coolant is not that pricey, especially for the benefits it gives in a hot climate!

Re: Water leak bad weep hole?!?
Ok thank you guys. But its not a hose. Over a pit we can visably see the leak. Its a hole in the engine with no thread. So we cant just plug it
Ive read these cars have weep holes that are supose to leak but this is a lil drastic

I just seen you use regular water. Its possible to rot out a lot of parts from not using coolant. That could be your issue. Its $10 for a jug of coolant at walmart.
You dont have to be a billionare.

Re: Water leak bad weep hole?!?
To repeat myself some more. The ISSUE with my prelude is that it is allowing too much water to come out of the weep hole. HOW do i fix THAT. WHAT is causing that specifically. Then maybe Ill put coolant in my car. Knowing it will hold the coolant
Cheers
