Transmission help H22- Cant shift
Hey guys. I have a 98 h22a in a 96 accord. I put in a new clutch and flywheel ~5-6 years ago.
Over the past year I have noticed a problem where when I step on the clutch one of 2 things happen:
1. The clutch does not let go of the flywheel and my car will stall as I slow down at a light.
2. It becomes incredibly difficult to shift, especially 1st and 2nd gear. Sometimes I will shift into 2nd then go into 1st. It was also extremely difficult to get into 5th gear and it would just grind. The only way to get into 5th gear was to rev the engine after getting out of 4th gear. Once in any gear the car drives fine.
What I ended up doing was move the pedal closer to me so I can press it a longer distance and it fixed the problem for about 2-3 months. Then slowed the same symptoms came back so I moved the pedal back further. It's at the point where I can no longer move the pedal back because the thread is at its limit. I posted on here and everyone thought it was a spring that had popped out or something clutch related. So I bought a new clutch and flywheel.
Today I took off my transmission and everything is NORMAL. The clutch, clutch disc, and flywheel all have normal wear and tear. Nothing out of the ordinary. The only thing is that the rubber housing on the slave cylinder is torn.
Where do I go from here? I dont know what the problem is at this point. Should I open up my transmission housing? I have never been in a transmission before to know what to do other than to see what is obviously broken.
Could it have been something with the fork and release bearing? It seems to move just fine/smoothly but maybe it wasnt aligned while on the engine?
Any help is much appreciated.

until you said everything looked normal, i would have thought it was your pressure plate.
how does the car shift if you rev match?

Nothing was converted. Accord was manual as well. Its not consistent when I rev match. Right now the pedal is as close to me as possible and its impossible to get into gear while the car is on. I have to put the car into 1st, start the engine, then drive right away. If I dont drive then the car will stall because the clutch is engaged.
Rev matching doesnt help at all actually.

Same thing happened to my Prelude last summer. I kept losing pedal pressure and was constantly adjusting back until I could no further.
Turns out that the slave cylinder had gone bad. Replaced the cylinder, added fluid, bled the lines and voila. Back in business!

Hey so I finally got around to finishing things. I changed the clutch, flywheel, release bearing, and slave cylinder. The car shifts beautifully now. Not sure exactly where the problem was (possibly many) but it works and thats all that matters. Thanks guys
