Swapping OBDI H22A into OBD II Prelude '96
I need to know what to do with the distributor.
I am putting the JDM OBDI H22A into a 96 Prelude using the factory H23 harness and the JDM ecu with a conversion harness.
+ Can't use 96 H23 because its OBD II
+ IMO can't use an 92-95 H23 because its made to have the crank angle sensor on the oil pump.
+The JDM distributor has the sensor in the distrubutor but the H23 wiring harness doesn't have the right connectors for that.
+However the JDM distributor can be wired to accept an external coil.
So I am thinking to use the JDM distributor, rewire it to work with the H23 Harness... using external coil and then use the dizzy plugs off the JDM harness and run wires from the ecu to the plug for the sensor.
But do I really have to rewire the distrubutor for an external coil if I am using the JDM ecu
[b]EDIT: Just thought of something else.
The JDM distrubutor has a 2 wire plug and a 7 wire plug. The OBD II H23 distributor has the same 2 wire plug but instead of a 7 wire plug has a 4 wire for the distributor and of course a 3 wire for the external coil.
Since I am running the JDM ecu would it be possible to either
1) Figure out the wire colors that corralate to the jdm distributor and merge the 2 plugs (4 wire and 3 wire) into the an existing JDM plug I have off the old JDM harness and plug it into the JDM distributor. That would allow using the the CKP in the distributor and still allow me to keep the internal coil since I am running the JDM ecu.
WOULD THIS WORK?
2)Basically the same thing but figure out the pinouts on the ecu and run it straight from the ecu to the distributor using the JDM plug.
