Default Silencer mod-- effect on horsepower, and torque?

I've got a tanabe super racing medalion and put in the silencer and it really quiets the monster exhaust note down. I was wondering if it had any effect on the hp/tq numbers, I read in this months import tuners' power pages and they tested and exhaust and the silencer had no effect on hp/tq.

I was thinking about moddifying the silencer to have the same piping size as the perforated tube inside the muffler, this would mean that there would be no "bottleneck" and it would elminate the "resonating" effect the last 4 inches of muffler has on the tone, would this theroetically work? It would be a bit louder but I wouldn't lose hp/tq.

any insight would be great.

well if it had no effect in the first place i would say that taking out the bottleneck would not make it any worse
