ya, i personally have never seen it on an import. But ive seen em on the dyno when ppl were dynoing their 800hp domestics and its to keep the drive axel such from blowing chunks everywhere.

The scattersheild is not for the driveshaft. That is called a driveshaft loop.
A scattersheild is to contain pieces of clutch and flywheel in case those parts decide to fail at high RPM and explode.
A chunk of flywheel can kill you or seriously maim you.

Yes, they are required when running under 12sec and are supposed to protect the driver, etc. if the clutch or flywheel where to explode.
I happen to have one in my car right now from golden eagle. Fitment could be a little better, but at least my car passes tech now.

yes, i was about to buy one myself but then got out.... i guess instead i migt have to invest in a driveshaft safety hoop
