Default Review eBay Twin Loop Muffler

Where - http://motors.ebay.com
How much - $50 shipped

Here's what I got. 2.5" inlet, 2.5" pipe all the way around, good welds, and a 4" tip. The tip is a little bigger than I wanted, but it works for now.

Took it down to have it installed, and here's where it got complex. Because of the odd shape, for the inlet to line up on the bottom, the tip would be on top and the muffler would hang low. We managed to work it into place and split the difference. Slight bend in the pipe, a little low to the ground, but overall it's best performance/look. The hangers also took a little creativity to fab up, but the outcome was wonderful. Fairly well hidden and strong hold. Thanks to Jay (tech) and Sal (service manager) at Meineke #1172 for the great job. It was amazing the look on everyone's face when I pulled that muffler out of the car. They'd never seen anything like it and had their doubts, but they all loved the sound. Here's some installed pics.

Sound is amazing. Very deep, and very quiet. You can hear the engine over the exhaust at high rpms. Sound clip is awaiting streetfire.net approval and should be up soon

What type of resonator do you have on your car?

Sorry, forgot to include the rest. It's a Megan/OBX/cheap header, 2.5" Carsound cat, and 2.5" exhaust with 12" resonator. Here's the sound clip. The only downside to this muffler is those occasional backfires you get are very loud. And, no, I have only seem them in 2.5"

Sticks out a little too far for my tastes; although perhaps that couldn't have been avoided because of the trouble you mentioned they had installing it. Don't mind me, I'm an OEM *****... but looks like good quality.

Sound clips are a must when you get a chance.

That looks like it would drag very nicely if the car were lowered.

why do people mount it like that? is there not enough room to put the loop on top?

I've been wondering about that myself. Can't you cut off a little bit of piping so you can shift the muffler back and turn it right side up?

I can't see the pics (I'm behind a firewall @ school), but it sounds like the one I have on my prelude (got it from here, 2.5" inlet 4" tip, round canister, etc...). the main problem with the mounting was the rear suspension and the space to mount the muffler. my loop hangs on the passenger side. you honestly can't see the other loop, unless you look under the car. I'm thinking of changing the tip to something smaller, but it actually looks ok. I love the sound of it, sounds deep + its as loud as I want it to be. Definitely a nice muffler for the price. hth.

my thoughts exactly...

the purpose of a twin loop is for a stock look of a performance muffler...seeing the loop doesnt look stock.

If I had mounted it with the loop up, the piping would have had to make a 90 degree bend up, then another back out for it to line up with the inlet on the muffler. I'll get a pic of how it's set up now, but there is very little room to mount this any other way

*update* Alright, had the muffler been mounted with the loop facing up, the linlet would be about where the red circle is, which is far from ideal for both performance, and actually being able to weld to

knowing what you do now, would you go through teh trouble of having weird welds and everything for this muffler? woudl you be happier with what you had before? I couldn't deal with having that section welded in liek that..
