Removing stock headunit
Have to remove my stock headunit to pull the serial number (damn anti-theft crap). As far as I know you just take a flathead and pop off the panel surrounding the radio, right? Then there's 4 12mm bolts to unscrew...
Any tips for doing this? I have the factory wood trim and don't wanna ruin it.
Thanks.

You have wood grain in your whip? Damn....is that a 5th gen? Didn't know they had those.... though.....
my thoughts - just be patient while doing it.

Have you ever taken a 5th gen apart? I'm looking at the schematic and there doesn't seem to be a lot to "pull" on.

Re: (Tomakit)
ok i have pulled my 5th gen apart and it isnt that hard. all you do is start at the gbottom with your bare hands and pull a little untill it pops down there, then work your way up and pop the side ones and then the top and its off. its a little tedious but simple. dont use the screwdriver

Their are 8 clips that hold the center trim panel on. 3 on top, 2 on sides and 3 on the bottom. It takes quite a bit of force to get it off.
Once you have that off 4 screws hold the audio unit in place. Thake those off and the radio will cpme out easily.
