Default Recommended_H22A4 Gasket kit

Hi Everyone,

Who makes the best aftermarket gasket kit for the H22A4?

I have used Evergreen Performance in one of my motors and i had a valve cover gasket leak after a month. Going to rebuild another H22a4 and will use original honda head cover gasket. Looking for a reliable gasket kit??

Tried to search but to no luck.

Neither the kit nor the gasket itself show as discontinued on the online parts dealers.

Thanks but the point of this post is 'best aftermarket gasket kit'. I'm not looking for the original kit.

i'd roll my own by hopping on ebay and buying all the fel pro stuff.
i've heard they make some of the gaskets for honda.
head gasket is about half of the stealership price.

Nobody cause aftermarket gaskets, seals and o-rings are total garbage and leak. As a dealer tech I love showing people that their 3 month old blue valve cover gasket is gushing, you think you're saving but not when you have to do it 2 or 3 times before it's right. You wouldn't buy fake Nike's so why by knock off car parts?

Fel Pro definitely doesn't make any Honda gaskets. The only outsourcing they do for anything like that is Nok and Arai for the pressed in shaft seals.

The head cover gasket kit isn't discontinued, last I checked when we had a 5g Prelude that needed one we had the kit in stock.

Yea, thats why I was trying to persuade, I guess. I just got done building my H22 and gaskets and seals is something I would not cheap out on. But building a totally fresh engine with no oil on or near it really helped the hondabond adhere and dry/cure for days/weeks before seeing oil. I never thought there was a difference until I rebuilt a CR125 like 5 yrs ago and I had bought a cheap knock off seal and then bought a Genuine OEM Honda seal and just felt the difference between the two silicone//plastics what ever it is. Let me put it this way. Feel a cheap motorcycle tire and note the hardness and how easy your nail can split it. Then touch a pirelli Diablo supercorsa, its soft and grips and doesnt tear. Anyways its your build man. Goodluck!

Minus the fact that you answered your own question in your first post. You bought some aftermarket gasket kit and it started leaking prematurely.

Cometic Head Gasket. Its what I have on my build. Never a problem.
Heres Link.
Cometic Headgasket Honda Prelude H22A4
However theres several places that have it and you can find it elsewhere.
I got mine on amazon but they dont have any in stock right now.
fyi the Yonaka Full Engine Gasket Kit comes with a cometic head gasket it just doesnt advertise it.

Thank you all for your input. I got the point.
It seemed justified to ask what fellow members use as I have looked at various h22 builds and it does not seem that everyone is using original gasket kits. I guess it depends on luck when buying aftermarket gasket kits like evergreen, felpro, etc....

I have used the Evergreen kits for fast cheap rebuilds, and honestly about 1/2 the gaskets and o-rings fit, and half are not even the right size.

I use a combo of the one from that kit that work, and new OEM Honda for the more critical areas that I have had leaks come up.

I've always liked felpro head gasket kits. Be sure to get the perma torque head gasket. They are better head gaskets but in my opinion felpro has one of the best kits for the price. #HD26411PT I'm gonna be installing mine soon.
