My lude is having some kind of alternator problem I think. Every once and a while it has problem starting. I did a battery check and it's giving off more volts then it should. The alternator check was a few volts low. When the car finally starts it runs fine after it charges. When I turn the key without starting the car the volts sit at 12volts. When I attempt to start the lude it works it's way just to under 14 volts. Any ideas what could be going on?

Now the new problem feels like it's the fuel pump. I have to rev the hell outta it so it can start and then toss it into gear so it doesnt shut off. Any suggestions? On Monday my buddy and I are replacing spark plugs, wires, alternator, and fuel pump.

Although batteries say 12v, they are really 13.8. It is pretty common to run 12.5-14.4 when running.

My take on your last post is that the engine dies when you put it into gear. The IACV (Intake air control valve) on the front of the manifold controls idle speed after the car warms up. It should give the engine a bit more air when there is a greater load like electrical lights, air conditioning and being in gear. It may be sticking or not working. When the car is warm, you should be able to unplug it and have the car run at about 550-600 rpm with lights, fan, and everything turned off.

If this looks like a problem search the threads for IACV and idle problems.

DID YOU TEST ANYTHING?? like battery voltage...fuel pressure...thats alot of parts just to throw at a car

could be his voltage regualtor... check all your fuses. i had a similar problem and it turned out to be one of the ECU fuses in the interior fuse box
