question for people that have looped their power streering lines
in this picture, the barbs you need to use to loop the ps lines, i undestand that the actual barb size only matters on what size hose you use, but who knows what size the threading is that goes into the steering rack?
id like to know so i can buy the barbs before i take everything apart. that way im not running around looking for the right size threading on barb fittings in various hardware stores while my car is sitting in the garage up on jackstands

Eh...I just cut off the stock lines leaving enough left to put a hose and hose clamps on there. Works fine...

Im hoping to do this soon. How long of a project is this? My buddy did this to his DA with a b20z and his steering is not much different from when he had PS.

can anyone outline the benefits of this?
is this what you do when you remove the p/s?
my wheel is hard enough to turn as is, but i've been considering not putting it back in when i swap my motor

You could but it is on the top of the steering rack so you have to really know what you're working with cause you can't see it that well...

instead of looping the lines, i ran a "T" into a resovoir.
you can do it without taking the int. mani. off but it helps if you have skinny arms.
i wish that i would of pulled the p/s off a long time ago. it feels a lot better. its as if all this time i had been having sex with 10 jimmy hats, and now no jimmy hats. i can feel everything and i love it.

aries, got any pics of what lines need to be looped?
i was under the car and i pulled a shield off the bottom and it exposed 4 lines goign into the rack in the same spot. do i just loop these four into pairs?

Follow the 4 lines... 2 of them are for the VSS(loop them)... and the other two are for the pump/cooler/resevoir(loop them)... In the pic I posted above you can see I just looped them from above, but you can do it from below too...

no it does not act as a ps pump, it is simply to jsut clean up the engine bay by removing all the lines and the ps pump and for light weight savings.
if you do this your car will not have ps and it will be harder to turn.
i have had the ps belt removed for more than a year now and i only asked this question because i like the car much better without power steering and i jsut wanted to remove all the ps stuff that is useless to me now.

for daily drivers we ought to get electric ps pumps....you will get sick of turning the wheel with both hands to park and move at less than 20mph......it sucks
i was in the process of making a ps pump with a clutched pulley like the ac, i just need to get a machine shop to make one peice and its done....

yeah i talked to that guy......i said on a scale of one to ten, one being normal, and ten being how it feels with just the belt off, how does that setup feel, he told me it was like a 7....
so its not terrible, but parking and low speed maneuvering is a two hand job with that....
besides, thats something that you dont want to go back and put to stock if you dont like it, its a good bit of work to do that......
