Default Prelude- H22a and H23 Distributors, Car won't start!!

Hey guys,
I have a 93 Lude that I bought that had an H22A swapped into. The car came with an msd blaster coil external.
My dizzy just wen't bad and I got a new one, I bought one for a 2.2L vtec motor, put it in and the car wotn start, its like it kinda fires, but doesnt start, I herd kinda poping in the exhaust...

Anyway, I think it may be in the wiring, I see that the + wire on the coil was tapped into a yellow wire, that is also hoiooked to a black/yellow stripe wire.
And the ground (black) wire on coil goes to a Blue wire on the harness.

So the wires may be wrong, plus, are the caps/rotors the same? The cap bolts right up...

Mabey its the wrong Dizzy, I also seen a listing for a Model S Dizzy, should I have gotten that?

So step one, I took all 4 plugs out and put them into the wire and placed them on the valve cover, cranked the car over and they seem to be getting spark, like an Orange color spark....

I assume the firing order is correct. 34 12

make sure you do this when installing the dizzy. when i was replacing mine i forgot to and i couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start for the longest time.

What in the world. Ive never seen this before. Would it not being in line cause it to not fire period. Or could it even cause it to fire improperly.

Ive taken many dizzy apart and off the motor, and never done that before, and Ive spun them in all diffrent directions.

when i had the problem it would fire but it would run for like a split second then die. once i did that first it started right up no problem.

maybe you are just really really lucky lol.

Well, Heres what I did..

Took # 1 wire off, put a screw driver in it and turned the car over, its arcing for sure, but its a redish color...

Its really weird, its like the car is firing, and ignits, but its like there just isnt a strong enough spark to start it. The car ALMOST starts!

I really hate to be a noob, but guys please stick with me here and help me out, I need the car running.

I got access to the fuel pump to were I can here it, put key in ignition and you can here fuel in the pump priming.

I took some starter fluid And sprayed into the throttle body and it still wouldnt start.... Although the battery was dieing, so at this point, the battery is being fully charged...

The external coil is hooked up properly. Sounds like MAYBE bad coil, because of spark intensity, but also weak battery won't help. Hand turn the engine to #1 TDC and check where the rotor is pointing. should be bottom left to the #1 spark plug wire area.

Get rid of that MSD crap and use OEM Honda parts and see if that helps.

Also, double and TRIPLE check your timing. Ignition timing and cam timing.

Its impossible to put the dizzy on wrong. I just went out and checked on my car. Unless your timing is off. Otherwise the dizzy will only go on one way. There is also one hole in the dizzy for the rotar to be screwed on. The fitment where the dizzy slides into the camshaft, is fitted awkwardly so it can only go in one way.

I dont see how or what you did.

oh no that wasn't the problem, i know it only goes on wrong one way. I was also replacing the o ring that seals the distributor in the camshaft hole. and you have to take off that front piece that slots into the ex cam. so when your putting that piece back on you have to do what the manual says above, because if you don't the dizzy wont deliver spark properly.

i doubt they would put that in the manual if it wasn't necessary.

charged the battery fully, I tryed out another MSD blaster ss coil. I also put #1 cyl @ TDC and the rotor pointed toward #1 like it should car STILL wont start....

its really weird, it ALMOST starts but doesnt run, its soooo close to starting...

I sprayed starter fluid in the TB and nothing....

Like stated before, put an OEM coil on it. Sounds like there's a good chance
its the ignitor in the dizzy. Have you checked it? Sometimes oil can
leak through the distributor and contaminate the ignitor. Is it oil
soaked on the inside?

I dunno the car wont start, I put in a new dizzy, I knew it was going the bearing inside the shaft was squeeling BAD, I put in a new dizzy and the car almost starts but doesnt......

I assume timing is good, I put #1 at TDC and the rotor points toward #1 like it should.

the car sits sadly, cuz I CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHY IT WONT START, ITS AGGRIVATING!!!!!!!!!!

not unless someone installed it on there.

Im in process of doing the same job you got coming to you. But Ive been far to lazy to even start it. Its a 5 hour job.

You diagnosed your problem on your own. Congrats. Now its time for the second half. Fixing it
