Power steering fluid (foaming from cap)
Just took a road trip from Austin-2-Charlotte and 4 hours into the trip I turn into a gas station and all i hear is Squealing When i turn the wheel and p/s Fluid is foaming through the resevoir cap and its all over the place. Its like the power steering pump turns on when it wants to.
Sorry about the story, just to let you know.
But P/S fluid foams from the cap
Check for leak in the hoses-NO Leak
Dealership says bad pump and hoses-Estimate $820-Hell no....Crazy
Maybe air in the line?

Re: (Lude-Lee)
i had this problem too and it happened to be the power steering pump dying
got a new pump and its all good.
i seriously hoped it was just a leak somewhere. but it wasnt, unfortunately.

Re: (Lude-Lee)
Well this morning went to go check out my car and the res. tank was a bit low so i added some spt stop leak/ps fluid. Now theres no squealing just the wheel still feels tight and sluggish.
Should i just replace the P/S pump?

Re: Power steering fluid (Lude-Lee)
Fluid was low and mixing with air hence the foaming. Find the source of the leak and replace the lines or the pump (whichever is leaking). At the same time get a power steering fluid flush.

Re: Power steering fluid (E-lude78)
i would say its 99% the pump if there is no leak but...... one thing to check is pull the boots back on your rack and pinion and check for fluid. Ive had to replace inner tie rods on a few civics and accords and the boots looked totally dry but when i pulled the inners there was ps fluid all over. It is definitly an easy place for the air to come it too.. But yeah everyone is right it only foams when air is getting into the system
defintly keep us updated... wanna know what happened good luck and dontspend 800 bucks obviously
