Rear end bouncing/goes by itself
Hello,
I'm new here, and I would like to ask you guys for your opinion…
I have BB1 prelude (94), 2,2 with 4WS. On car are 17” wheels and brand new tires. I bought car with stock shocks and Eibach spring (Pro-Kit which lowers car for 30 mm or 1,2 inch). Car has approximately 125.000 miles, with first shocks (I guess?). Eibach springs are on for last 30.000 miles.
Where is the problem? I have feeling, that car goes by itself – particularly rear end. Especially when fast accelerating or at high speeds. Car is also very nervous when the road has some bumps, minor holes,…
As far as I know, 4WS is working fine. When I give contact 4WS light goes on, and when I start car light for 4WS goes off immediately. And stays off. So 4WS shouldn’t be an issue?
I found some posts, where you were talking about pro et. contra for lowering the car just with springs. But before I go and spent some serious money on coil overs or some aftermarket shocks I would like to hear your opinion.
Thank you

Re: Rear end bouncing/goes by itself
i have a 3g. its your rear bushings that are bad, youll need to replace them, but if you replace those without doing all of them then there is no point. its $400 for all bushings and balljoints for the whole car, id just replace all of them. good luck. btw the brand is MOOG they are lifetime warranty and you can get them at Shmucks

Re: Rear end bouncing/goes by itself
That is one of things, that I’m planning to do.
1 month ago all 4 wheels were balanced when I was changing summer tires to winter tires. But during balancing came out, that another wheel is slightly bent, but it was solved with weights and put on rear end. There is slight shake on steering wheel at 120 km/h, but nothing dramatic.
I guess the right to do list would be:
- Repair that one wheel which is slightly bent
- Change stock shocks to agx which came in “spare parts box” with car (I hope that they are all right!)
- Do alignment check
