my prelude with altezza's won't start---> HELP!!
The lights on the dash light up, the car cranks fine, but it won't fire. If I push the gas pedal down it seems to want to start, but it won't.
any ideas?
I think it's the feul pump, but I don't know how to test this.
Prior to this, it had been sitting for a week.
thanks for your help

Re: my prelude with altezza's won't start---> HELP!! (TurbothisLS)
i believe i'm getting a CEL that blinks on and off like normal on the dash before startup
so i'm gonna guess it's not the relay
any options for checking if it's the fuel pump without actually replacing it?
is it supposed to make a noise when you turn the key to ON?

It does make a sound when the key is in the ON position. You can hear it preping before you start the car.
EDIT** It also make a click sound when the cel turns off.

heres the best way to check your fuel pump. take the main fuel line, under the hood, disconnect it and turn your key onto ignition. go look if the gas is flowing well. if it is then your fine it isnt the fuel pump and then it probably has something to do with your spark (you might be loosing that somewhere)
i have to admit i had altezza's on my car and it ran like ****. after i cleared out the oem taillights and put them on i swear i think i gained about 13whp!! AND NOW IT RUNS LIKE A CHAMP!!

i guess that way it works for sure. i remember changing my fuel line one time and forgot to put the line back on before priming. and it looked like the bellagio in vegas.
But yea, just prime your car and have someones ear next to the fuel pump. im assuming the fuel pump is under the rear seats.

exactly if the fuel pump is weak you will know because it should come out of there like old faithful, just take the fuel line going into the fuel filter, trust me you will know if your fuel pump is weak
but maybe it isnt your fuel pump maybe you need a new distributor or something start checking your ignition too, it can only be 2 things fuel or spark

thanks for the responses guys
i knew the altezza thing would come up...lol
i don't think it's an electrical problem tho
i'll listen for the fuel pump and try from there

Try pulling the engine code (if any?)
If you don't know how to get the code, check out:

For a list of codes:

Hope that helps.

another thing you can do to determine if your problem is fuel or spark related is to spray some starting fluid directly into the throttlebody. It it starts then you know its fuel related.

Re: my prelude with altezza's won't start---> HELP!! (TurbothisLS)
this is going to sound ******* nuts but this is what i would do. do not try this unless u are sure about what u are doing or else u will be shocked like a crack ***** running from the cops and trust me it doesnt feel too pleasant. make sure to get a pair of pliers with a rubber grib. have someone crank it while u take the spark plug wire off alittle with ur rubber pliers and if it is making a clicky sound and you can see spark then ur good (you dont have to pull the wire all the way out just alittle off of the spark plug so that u can hear or see the spark), do that for all 4. also with the metal part of the pliers run that along all of the wires while someone is cranking it and if there is a break in the wires u will see spark, maybe thats the problem??
