Mushy gears.....Whats the problem??
So my 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears are mushy and feel like there not in gear when i'm driving. My car still goes into gear fine and the tranny doesn't have any noises, but the gears just don't feel solid like they used to. 2nd and 4th gears feel great but its the top three that feel like crap.
I have check the mounting points for the cables and those are fine, so I have been researching and people are telling me I might have stretched the cable.
Does anybody have experience with this?? Thanks in advance

The cable could be stretched but first I'd check the bushings at each end and rule that out at least.

when you have time, take off your console around your shifter to check the cables. they are probably your issue.

"thats fresh"---which cable would be the one to replace the main one? (the one directly attached to the shifter)
"1GPlusSH"--So I have my console out and everything is good the cables are sitting where they should and the mounting points are still super solid. I have seen and read that the cables are adjustable to a certain extent, could adjusting them fix my issue???

Re: Mushy gears.....Whats the problem??
should be the main one...
check from your transmission to your firewall. mine stretched between the firewall and shifter, but yours may be the other way. it's an easy fix. if you don't see anything, i'd go ahead and pull the whole cable out just to make certain it isn't the cable, which i highly doubt.
