Default low compression

sup all,

i have a 97 type sh and had new seals and timing belt service done by honda and AEM pullies. after about a month my car wont turn over sometimes. after about a week everything seemed normal then it started stalling out when i come to a stop to idle. it did it randomly

so i took it in for a compression test by honda and the numbers were 210 200 150 210...

it ran fine after a week after the test then it started again. i noticed if i have the a/c on it wont stall out when i come to a stop. it only stalls out when i come to a stop it idles fine when i start up.

so i ran a home compression test and the numbers i came up with are 200 130 150 210 thats a dry test

then i ran a wet test which were 200 150 170 210

it only started this after i installed new pullies and did the timing belt service.

any suggestions what it might be? head gasket or rings?

i had the heads pulled a year ago from an over rev and everything was fine just the entire engine was really carboned up badly.

thanks and sorry for it being so long

What do you mean by a wet compression test?
are you referring to a leakdown test?
if not, you should have one done son.
sounds like your getting blow-by in the #2 and 3 cylinders

i'm assuming that you checked the valves when you had the head off? i had the same problem and i ended up being bent valves from an overrev. just an idea.

If you installed new pullies I would consider a bent valve. Maybe the bolts were loose?

Could also be a burned valve. Just by pulling the head and visually inspecting the valves you probably won't see if it is slightly bent so please keep that in mind if you decide to pull the head.

yeah the machine shop checked out the heads and they were fine. the wet test is basically putting a little oil in the spark plug area and then doing the compression test again to see if the numbers are any higher. the oil basically seals any possible leaks in the rings

i read that if two adjacent cylinders are close in number and are low its possible to be a head gasket leak but if the wet test comes to be 30psi higher then its more than likely the rings

but it only started happening after i got my car back from honda from a timing belt replacement and AEM pullies installed

list of modds i have are: DC header, AEM CAI, Hondata IM gasket, coolant bypass, exhaust, AEM under drive pullies, UR crank shaft pulley and exedy racing clutch.

but i am going to get a leak down test this weekend and see where the possible leaks are at

anyone think it might be bad battery or alternater from the pullies?

yeah i still have my bent valves and you can barely see that they are bent even by themselves unless you stand them up. they make nice paperweights tho

Just wondering how many heads your engine has... My H22 has ONE.

IF you take it to honda, and they see the pullies, they will likely not help you too much.

Do a leakdown.

If there is a honda place that put on your pullies, they should be able to do that. most shops can.
