Default jdm h22a speed problem

I have a del sol with an h22a my speedo started going on and off then just quit. I replaced the vss the cluster and checked all wires and still no speedo. W/o my speedo working my vtec will not work. What else can it be or how can I bypass the speedo to get my vtec workingm thanks

I say test with a different ecu....IIRC, your speedo doesn't affect VTEC engagement. Also since your speedo isn't working after replacing the speed sensor and cluster, I believe the ECU is the next place to look.

But the problem is that the vtec is controled by the speedo. Because if the car is not going 35 mph vtec will not engage and since my speedo will not read I have no vtec and I put my ecu in another car and it worked fine

Did you get a used vss or brand new one? I had problem with speedo last year,
replaced with a used vss and it failed too, got a new one and no probs. Auto
elec told me that the original ones are often failing now due to age and the
harsh environment they live in, the circuitry in the units gives out.

sounds like its time to whip out that multimeter and see what isn't sending a signal to the ecu

thats exactly what i don't want to do. because h22 in a del sol, not much room to reach those hard to reach wires. but unfortunately its the only thing i have not done.
