How many miles do you get on your prelude? whats your cost per fill up?
hey dudes,
i think it would be nice to know how many miles per gallon everyone is getting on their ride. at least this will give everyone here on this forum a better idea how good or crappy their car is eating up the fuel or maybe make someone realize that their driving habits aren't all that helpful on their pockets.
at 55mph most car gets the most miles to the gallon. thats why at one point in time the speed limit was 55mph because of emission levels. most cars ran more efficiently. but as technology progressed newer cars were able to reach better emissions standards and this also changed the speed limit as well to 65mph
http://www.fueleconomy.gov
First generation (1978-1982) 1.6L SOHC 72 hp
Second generation (1983-1987) 1.8L 100 hp, 2.0L 110 hp
Third generation (1988-1991) 2.0L 104 hp, 2.0L 135 hp, 2.1L 140 hp
Fourth generation (1992-1996) 2.0L 133 hp, 2.2L 135 hp, 2.2L 190 hp, 2.3L 160 hp
Fifth generation (1997-2001) 2.2L Vtec 200 hp
meh this poll is not very well made because i know there are other generations out there and each generation have different mpg ratings. but generally speaking i just wanted to see how many mpg you guys get. maybe if your car is not to par with the others on here you may need to do a tune up to help improve your mpg. i dunno. just play along.
but be honest! please?
EDIT: URGH! what the heck happen all the numbers were placed in order and now its like jumbled. can a mod fix this?
anywy sorry about that i didnt think it was going to be all messed up. just find your numbers and vote. Thanks

About 450kms or 270ish miles.

From empty to full costs around $50-60

What's a "tank"?
I'll usually get ~450km until the fuel light but I'm sure I could go a decent bit past 500km before dying at the side of the road.

shifting at idle or what?
I see around 300-325. We needed a sixth gear, oh well that's a different thread.

I fill up once a week, put in just over 12 gallons and that gets me about 315 miles. (94 H22) as opposed to my 330 in the F22, using the same tranny though

I get roughly 315 now, about 27mpg since i fixed my idle, (before idle fix i got 22/23 avg)...... but that's usually at like 90 mph 2x a day with h22 and 5spd h22 tranny... for 30 mins each time. So yeah, I've been getting surprisingly good mileage for doing almost 5k rpm for 30 mins straight 2x a day. GO WEAR AND TEAR!!! lol I've also been mixing 93 and 89 to try and get close to 91 octane... like we are supposed to use.

I can get about 350 with the light just turning on. Roughly with half hwy and half street. WHen I fill up I'm at 14+ gallons. So I can probably hit close to 400

Re: (androO)
I get about 315 out of a tank with my H23. That comes to 26.5 mpg. My question is that I usually fill it up at 11.x gallons and the gas light has never come on but I am down to one bar on my gas gauge. How many gallons does a 4th gen tank hold? I ask instead of looking it up because my Accord said that it held 15.1 when in reality it would die on me if I ever ran it down to needing 13 or so gallons. Also when is the gas light supposed to come on?

holds 15.9 gallons
theres like a 2 gallon reserve usually so -2 you get 13.9 at the pump maybe your instrument guage is messed up
but i'm sure most prelude owners pump around 12-14 at thepump

I've had my Prelude since June and recently like a week or so ago was the first time I let it get down far enough to let the light come on. It was really dim so maybe I wasn't close to having it come on, but my light came on at like the last half-bar. I think my fuel pickup float (the thing that sends the signal about how much gas you have) was crooked or stuck because I used to start losing bars only after 100 miles or so and go down from there. This past week I guess it fixed itself because I'm at 100 miles now and have about -3 or 4 bars. Who knows. I thought my light didn't work for the longest time and was too sketched out to try and run it dry in case it didn't.

Re: (reymond23)
You guys realize mpg stands for Miles Per Gallon right? no one is getting 300mpg
Please stop judging your fuel economy by how many miles you go before you fill up
your gas guages may not be correct.
start your tripometer when you fill up......wait until next fill up and then check the mileage. Then divide the number of miles driven by the number of gallons you pumped into the car on that fillup.
If you'll f*cking search this has been covered before and i believe i ranted about this same thing

Really?
I think we assumed what the OP meant... You always hear of mpg, interesting to see how many miles per tank people are getting. We all have a 15.9 gallon tank, just funny seeing how different people get such varied miles per tank.
