Default Hondata IM gasket installation tips

Im about to install this on my lude. Do i have to take out the whole manifold or can i just take it apart and pull out the old manifold and put in the new one without taking it all out?

take your IM off of the head. Put the Hondata gasket in after scraping off the old gasket. Put IM back on.

lowers intake manifold temps, by blocking some heat from the head. This equals more power!

How hard was it removing the lower IM? Did you use gasket remover to take off the old gasket? I'm tackling this in a couple of weeks. I'm thinking it should take about 3-4 hours.

moter out here also... i drilled a hole in it, so it wouldn't block off the egr there, i blocked it off right at the egr itself, incase i need to have it fuctional i would not have to pull the itm.

Did it with the motor in, you could take the manifold off in less than an hour and a half. It's the gasket that's a pain in the ****.

It took me 5-6 hours with the motor in and a lift, pain in the butt, barley worth it, my suggestion spend the 100 dollars else where first

I installed my hondata gasket with the engine in the car. I didn't think it was that difficult. One can of spray gasket remover, 3 hours of scraping.

how can blocking the egr benefit you?<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by fastludeh22 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">moter out here also... i drilled a hole in it, so it wouldn't block off the egr there, i blocked it off right at the egr itself, incase i need to have it fuctional i would not have to pull the itm.</TD></TR></TABLE>

The NextGear IM Gaskets did in fact make 10whp at Performance Garage in Nashville. I know the owner of the car it was dyno'd on.

The EGR (exhaust gas recurulation) pulls hot exhaust into the intake making the intake charge hotter defeating the purpose of the gasket. It does that to reduce emissions and help prevent detonation to some extent.

sorry to bring it back from the dead haha... but yah, through searching i've read mixed replies about needing to block the egr off and what not. So is it true that if you don't block off the egr valve that it'll deem the hondata IM gasket pointless?

It wont deem it pointless - but it will reduce its benefits...

heat transfers a lot better from metal to metal than from gas to metal, yes the gasket does do good even with a working egr system, though losing the egr makes it evehn cooler.
