high idle
i know there have been many threads about an idle problem.......i have a 92 prelude and as of yesterday, my car has decided it wants to idle around 3500 rpm all the time. whether it is warm or cold. i have replaced the iac and now replaceing the fast idle.....everything else checks out ok. no check engine lights or anything. if i unplug the iac, the idle drops and bounces.... so i really dont think it is the fast idle.... just kind of tryign to get some feedback on what you all might think

Re: high idle (charles1)
Any mods to the tb lately, other than what you've listed? New air intake maybe???
Check the tps like "acidcracker" said. Did you reset the ecu, after changing the iacv and so forth?
3500 rpm seems to be extremely high for idle. Have you adjusted the tb screw any?
Give us a little more detail. It's a good possibility that you could be changing parts for nothing, other than a minor fix. Idk.
Let us know.....

Re: high idle (sxm5369)
by the way, my original issue was the bouncing idle problem, so i ordered all three parts i found out it was the fitv, but the really high steady idle didn't start till after replacing the tps. i put the old one back on but the problem stayed

Re: high idle (tkycgo)
i replaced the tps gasket and the high idle problem stopped, but now the bouncing idle problem came back. it jumps from 1000 to 2800 rpm

Re: high idle (sxm5369)
hey guys, i finally fixed my idle problem, after replacing the fitv, iacv, and tps, and nothing happening i took apart the intake manifold and it was one of the gaskets that was leaking and pulling air in. it looks like oil was getting in the intake from the line that goes from the valve cover to the intake, and the oil is what was wearing out the gasket. i replaced the gaskets and cleaned the egr, intake manifold, throttle body really good and now it runs perfect. hope this info can help someone
