HELP!!!
Ok guys, as some may know, I had a incident with my prelude back in May.
Ok, so here's my issue. My motor is dead, i can live with that, it made it 102k miles, 42k miles with charger.
I CANNOT find a block. the local shop had a motor sent to them, but it was just a h22a JDM motor, which of course the ATTS would not bolt up to and the block is completely different. Now I'm trying to hunt down another block, but it looks like the 99 motor was unique to the 99 prelude. I've looked on hondaautomotiveparts.com and the part numbers are actually different. WHAT the hell did they change? CRXTREME27 has a 97 shortblock/tranny/ATTS, can I use this? I really just wanted to buy the short block, but now i'm worried that it wouldn't work.
PLEASE SOMEONE WITH INDEPT h22a4 with type SH knowledge help me. I'm about to break down and go to honda and spend 2500 for just the short block. is there any JDM motor I can get, such as the Spec S motor(often called the Type S). Please HELP, I'm so tired of not having my car, but we just can't find a motor, and my hatchback won't be done for a week or two, yet it won't be stable for a few weeks until I can get a wideband to tune in the turbo.

Re: HELP!!! (seen4ever)
the JDM Prelude Type S shortblock should work for you, because it uses the SH transmission and ATTS units.
I THINK tha there is only a minor difference though, something about an oil pan or something. Try having your mechanic further investigate and document for you what it is that is causing the problem. Maybe you can pick up a small part and swap it out and be able to use the block from the JDM motor you have.

Like kotetu said, get a short block from a JDM type-s, the spec-s (euro) has a base block with a tranny LSD. You can get a base block and tranny and not have any ATTS or get a JDM Type-S. Thats the only options. Its possible to convert a SH block to a base tranny setup using an adapter plate for the axle extension thing (I can't remember the name right now). Its almost impossibe to adapt the base block to work with mounting the ATTS due to the diffrences on the back of the block where the atts mounts. 2point6 has a cheaper option though.

Re: (SuperSH)
Thanks for your help guys. I have had two people from honda-tech get in contact with me, one has a Type S block which looks pretty damn good. The other has a 97 block from a SH which is very clean as well. Price difference isn't that great between the two, so I may go for the higher compression. Does anyone know if the rods on the Type S are stronger than the normal rods in the SH/base blocks? Since I still plan on running my JRSC, the higher compression could cause some problems.

Re: (seen4ever)
definitely contact Lone Luder to discuss the Type S block. He knows all about high compression NA and will more than likely be able to give you some tips and advice.

not really sure, but according to the honda part numbers, its different.
remember, I will still be running my JRSC, so I won't be NA.
