Icon2 h22a type s

I have a 96 "civic". swapped jdm h22a, lsd tranny, megan exhaust, few other odds n ends. but my question is, what is somewhere to start building more horses and torque? I do not want to turbo it, maybe spray?

you will see good gains from a header. make sure its not Meagan or any thing like Meagan! imo the best bang for your buck is tri-y you can pick one up for like 350 if you look around. then of course your intake manifold i would research it and figure witch one would be the best for your likings. if you like top end or bottom end...then maybe a 68mm tb pick a cold air intake system or short ram. get a p28 chip tune 2step and you should be good...then throw a bottle on it and be a beast but thats just my idea....theres more then one way to skin a cat

Cams and tuning, throttle body, remove the IAB butterflies, EGR block off. Loop the cooling lines for the FITV, get a block off plate.

Not big gains on the IAB, EGR or FITV, but it keeps everything cooler and removes some turbulence from the intake manifold.

Gutting the IAB gets rid of the little secondary plates that can cause turbulence in the intake manifold, its a cheap way of getting a higher flow intake manifold.

These are just little changes that help cooling and breathing.

Remove balance shaft belt, increases acceleration, minor hp gain.
Upgraded motor mounts or at least motor mount inserts, helps put the power to the ground, the less flex in your drive train, the more power that goes to the ground.

Are you a straight H22 swap or an H2B?

Its a straight h22a swap. Its also has polyethylene motor mounts and 4-2-1 headers.

You may also want to fit a cai or short ram with a k&n filter, and put
in a high flow cat, if you havent already. You can also strip your car
of some weight to improve performance. A good tune also will net a
few extra hp and torque.

There are several members here that have gone to extremes to get HP from the H22 N/A, the one that comes to mind right away is Satan_SRV.

The FAQ thread is a real good place to start:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-prelude-4/faq-faq-faq-99%25-your-answers-here-2168311/

Building big power without FI or NO2 is the harder road to travel.

What are you interested in doing with your car? Are you trying to build a drag car? Auto-X? Daily driver for fun?

What are you after? What are you interested in spending? What are you willing to sacrifice, reliability, comfort?

I think ideas will flow better if you can identify what you want out of your car.

Hell, there's probably a dozen threads with info that can help you, at least for starters, and we can point you at, if you can identify what you want to do.

im more interested in 1/8 and 1/4. ive already topped the car out at 163 (according to gps) but top end really isnt my thing. and as far as finances go it is more than likely going to be stretched out over a period of time b4 i am where i want to be with the car. its my only car too so its my dd/track car so i do need it to still be reliable.

With low budget, once you have I/H/E and a tune, the next place to start is reducing weight, starting with rotating weight, then chassis weight.

Rotating weight:
Balance shaft belt, remove accessories [PS, A/C] or upgrade pulleys [Alt, crank], flywheel, clutch, rims

Chassis weight:
Anything you can live without ... stereo, carpet, interior plastic, etc.

Then start saving for more N/A mods, cams, tuning, high compression pistons, tuning, porting and polishing the cylinder head, tuning, bigger throttle body, tuning ... etc.
