what should a h22a head be torqued down to

Apply oil to the threads and under bolt heads and torque to 72 ft/lbs starting in the middle and working out in a criss cross pattern.

have you guys ever installed arp head studs? how come they have 2 torque specs? that always confused the hell out of me

i actually don't...the instructions come with 2 torque specs, one for aluminum and one other one..it also comes with assembly lube...i always just went with the aluminum spec but it was always kind iffy

IMO there should be 3 torque specs.

1--torque the studs into the block with allen wrench
2--1st stage torque for the bolts after the head is installed
3--2nd stage torque for the bolts

...at least that's how I'm going to do mine.

I thought that when u bought the ARP studs, they came with a lubricant that must be used when installing. as for the different torque specs, I have no idea. Which did u use?

it also makes sense that you are supposed to torque the bolts down evenly to the first setting, then go back through in the same direction and torque them tothe final setting. make for even distribution and less chance to warp the head.
