yeah thats a crapload of timing. only place on the map it should ever get that high is at high rpm no load (decelleration)

when i datalog do i need to subtract base timing from the datalogged #??

well the datalogged # should be total timing correct? if so you need to verify that with a timing light to make sure that its the same as what the computer thinks it is.

The way I see it is that there are two ways the timing could've been setup...

1.) distributor was synced to what the computer was outputting, done by rotating the distributor to get the correct timing reading, or by an electronic offset like aem uses. This would be the same way you setup timing on a stock motor (rotating distributor).

Or..

2.) the distributor was bolted to the head in the "retarded position" rotated counterclockwise, and was made up for by an overly advanced base ignition map, so even if the map says 44 advanced it could still be putting out 30ish or whatever.

that makes it sound more realistic. base timing is ~15* so 44* minus 15* = 29*

base timing was set with a timing light to the flywheel at the stock spec, 15*
