Default Finding Oil and Transmission Oil Leak

Well after throughly being dryed up for cash after my swap, Im leaking transsmission fluid and oil. I have no clue where the oil is coming from, and also the transmission is leaking fluid from god knows where. I can pinpoint it. Is there some sort of fluid that I can get to dump into the oil and transmission fluid that will change colors so I can tell where the fluid is coming from. This is such a head ache, please help.

Okay so I got that UV liquid from autozone. Its going in the tranny tommorrow after work .

Anyone ever hear anything bad about this substance.

Frankly Im terrified of my tranny blowing over winter.

Also Im noticing since My axel has been put back in it is flinging axel grease all over the place. I think its coating the transimission and possibly causing the spots, but Im unsure

The boots on your axles are obviously ripped. Happened to me after my swap. When you swapped the motor out, did you replace the rear main seal?

Did your axles make a clicking noise when you installed them? I know many of us had a hard time getting the axles to finally check while doing our swaps. I had to take 2 pieces of wood and a hammer to get one in.

How do you know your transmission is leaking? Oil spots on the driveway or can you see a drip hanging from the tranny. If you're sure your transmission is leaking, look at the drip and then look up from it. Usually the leak comes from anywhere looking clean, not dirty.

Well the boots, dont seem to be torn anywhere, and there is a drip on the bottom of the tranny. Im gonna try and get that UV stuff in my tranny tonight, just so I know 100 percent.

Thats the lowest part on the car. The leak could come even from oil cooler and it will end up at that spot. That uv stuff will make it super easy.

spray some degreaser everywhere, hose down the engine... once the block is clean it should be easy to find where the leak is coming from if you cehck it every day.

Well I got it, and like a Jack *** I rushed it and probally spilled out more than half the bottle.

But heres the thing, When I check the oil level in the tranny today, and it was still higher than normal. The oil fill line on a manual transmission is the top hole(im sure you guys know what im talking about).

Anyway, there was still more than enough oil in it, when I removed the fill level bolt, some came poring out, probally a quarter of a quart. The jerk at honda told me the h23a1 tranny takes 3 quarts, but I think its to much oil. Cause it always overflows.

What could drip onto the axel. Casue its pretty much flinging oil all over the place, when it spinns. Well I guess only time will tell.

Also is it possible that the oil leak can be coming from the place where the axel slides into the transmission.

sounds like you have high temp grease leaking from the boot on the axle going into the tranny.

i would undo the metal clip, inject some new high temp grease and put a new metal clip or cable tie on

Okay so I found the leak. Just where I thought it was plus more. Its seaping out of one bolt. Its also seaping out between the gasket where the differential is. And is also dripping out the place where the axel goes into the tranny??? I didnt check the other side of the axel to see if its coming out there, but I doubt it is.
o

Can I try to put more honda bond over the bottom of the tranny where the leak is, will that work for a temp fix?

Okay well, I just found out where the leak wa coming from after degreasing the whole engine. Its coming from where the axel goes into the tranny not the bolts. Thoughts on that it could be?

Im pretty sure its in there good. Its probaly the seal. I used a good ammount f force to remove the axel and a great amount of force to insert it. How much labor is involed in replaceing the seal. Does the tranny need to be removed.
