Comes with a new set of plugs for the intake manifold.
Where would I find more info on this repair kit?

Speaking of service bulletins, where would I find a complete listing of all that came out for the 92

The bulletin number is 98-074, The Honda dealer might print up a copy for you.

Thanks, OUCH 160 bucks for the kit, maybe I'll just leave well enough alone.
Any good to do a simple cleaning or would that be basically a waste of time?

You don't need the kit. Just buy the plugs (part # 17199-PT3-AHM). I think you need 7 of them. 6 ports on top, and one on the side. Not positive if there is one on the side. You'll also need a slide hammer. I just made one with stuff from Home Depot.. I jacked this idea from another thread I found somewhere. You'll aslo need to get a #25 drill bit and 10-24 tap (came together). Just drill and tap the current plugs and use the slide hammer to pull them out. Clean the EGR ports and bang in the new plugs flush.

I'm having EGR valve problems with my 98. My check engine light keeps coming on - had a guy at the auto parts store check the code and he said it was EGR and misfire. I replaced the plugs yesterday and the light came on again today. I'm guessing it's the EGR valve. I'm thinking about cleaning the EGR valve this weekend, but have never tackled anything like this before (always just done plugs, oil, etc.)! I think I'll try cleaning the ports as well, but am nervous about the drilling. What's the best way to make sure everything is clean? I'm guesing there are voids in the manifold that are hard to get to without taking the manifold off (not an option)? And rather than buying Honda plugs, can't I just tap the holes in the manifold and screw in some set screws? That way if it plugs up again, I wouldn't have to go through the drilling part again (don't know why they didn't do that in the first place). Any detailed help for a small-time tech would be great!

That's exactly what I did. Since cleaning the EGR ports, my car passed smog. I'll bet that your valve is fine, but you might as well clean it anyway since it's very simple. Test it first by applying vacuum to it. If it doesn't stall, remove the valve and apply vacuum agai to see if the valve opens fully and smoothly. If it looks okay, clean the EGR ports. The best way to do that is to take it off the car to ensure no metal shavings fall into the intake. I cleaned it with STP hrottle body cleaner from Autozone. After cleaning the EGR ports, the engine should stall when applying vacuum to the EGR valve. That's how it worked out in my case anyway.

One in particular was a bitch. The middle one on the bottom. At Sears, I found a tool that made it easy though.

Sears item#00942072000

Just use this along with a ratchet wrench and all is well. The other nut that's hard to get to is the second one in on the bottom from the passenger side. I just use a bunch of socket extensions that go from behind the intake manifold to the nut. After having taken it on and off a few times now, I can get it off in about a half hour. You also need to take off the plastic box (haven't investigated what it actually does) by removing the two 10mm bolts. Leave the hoses attached, you just need that little bit of room to wiggle the manifold out (of my Accord anyway. Maybe you don't need to remove it if you're taking it out of a Prelude).

did you do that with it in the engine and in the car?

I did mine right in the garage. It would be best to take off the exhaust manifold, but I don't have the tools or time. Just make sure you use at least a full can of cleaner (your choice) and spray, blow out, repeat as long as it takes.

thank you 92 civlude....this trick fixed the issue..pulling vacuum like a ****...
