OK listen, you need to check the CYP sensor itself. to do this, you need a meter.
Pull the dizzy connector, and on the side coming from the dizzy, not the wiring harness, check continuity between connector 2, and 4. if its between 260-460 ohms, then its fine. if its lower or you show no reading, you need to replace the distrib housing.
If it shows between those numbers, check the continuity from the connector to a ground source. If it has continuity in this case, its shorting and needs to be replaced, if it shows no reading, time to move to the ecu or the wires from the dizzy to the ecu
EDIT:: If need be, i can take pictures of all this i speak of, just get a meter first, good investment anyway

no, i had said dizzy HOUSING, not cap and rotor. the CYP sensor itself doesnt just sit in the cap. Im talking about the 4 Prong plug, if you unplug the distrib. you have to pull the top half off its little mounting bracket so you can put the meter on the male plugs.
The CYP sensor can cause the problems you are describing if its dead. Since it tells where cylinder 1 is and thus starts combustion when you turn the car on.

replace anything thats busted. Did you reset the ECU after you fixed the wire? Pull the negative on the battery for a few mins, then reconnect, and start the car.

i had this problem today and i changed out 2 different dizzy;s and 3 ignitors and 2 coils and I laughed when i finally figured out it was my wiring. 2 of the pins had come out of the plug.

don't keep extra oil in your crank case! IF you know how to ADD oil you better know how to remove oil too. Pull that plug out of the bottom and drain some of it before you get oil leaks everywhere!!!

Not to mention wear out the rear main seal, and ruin your cat.
I've also been experiencing this problem on my 93 DX. I'm going to troubleshoot it tomorrow, but I have a question. I have a distributor from a 93 Si. Can I use the same internals from that distributor?

Re: CYP CODE IS COMING ON MY ECU ????????? (Dokta)
Does anyone know if the internals, specifically the CYP sensor, are the same on a 93 Si distributor and a 93 DX distributor? I don't want to buy another distributor if I already have the part I need.
