crower stage 3 cams for h22
anybody know if crower stage 3 cams are to large for all motor set up, are they ground for a turbo set up? would the valve train need uprating?

valve train must (at least stage 1 springs) higher redline takes stage 2 springs (eibachs)
recommended you clear your rocker arms before hand.
too large ? no... ground for turbo ? no...
hella big cams... i have them.. .vtec kicks hard..

i have stage 3s...I used JUN Valvetrain. It' an all motor cam that's for sure...upgrade your pistons if you can. Go type-s or something.
Stage 3 idle is loopy so you'll need to add fuel/up the idle speed to keep it from stalling.
Now I only stall on longer drives

Re: crower stage 3 cams for h22 (satan_srv)
hey can you advise? i`m running a str 68mm throttle body, intake manifold, fuel rail,an aem adjustable fuel regulator, a cai and a dc cat zorst new venom injector set on the way,ive been trying to get the basics before cracking the engine open, im also using an apexi vafc, i`m guessing stage 3 cams and a valve train would help this set up, i`m a bit new to engine tuning so advice would be cool, thanks for your info it all helps!!!

youre definitely gonna need higher compression pistons to take advantage of the Stage 3's
you also have to worry about the lumpy idle and it stalling.....raising the fuel pressure/idle will help that...
and dont forget some cam gears, a good valve train and maybe a Port and Polished Head

Would type s pistons be a good way to go with an all-motor plan? Why would it not be a better idea to go with some pistons like JE or something? Just curious because I heard that with type s pistons, which are forged I think, there is no need to sleeve the block. Are type s pistons the way to go if you do not want to spend more cash on JE or something? Is there much of a difference in performance? Sorry about all the questions.

Re: (MugenPoweredLude)
do i need to uprate pistons straight away or will the stock stuff do until more money allows? whats with the stalling issue?i`mguessing its cos of the agressive profiles?

Re: (acurafighter)
yes because of the aggressive non-vtec profile. I barely stall, maybe once a week after driving for an hour.
Type-S pistons do not require block sleeving, so it's cheaper. But you only have one option.
If you want driveability just get crower 2a with the stock non-vtec lobes

Re: (satan_srv)
on crower's page regarding the h22 cams: http://www.crower.com/cat/impo...shtml what's the difference between the Stage II Cams: 63422 & 63422A. can anyone provide any information providing all that is different betweent the 2? do the Stage II cams with the stock idle lobes still provide the same (15-18hp) as advertised on the page?

Re: (CD5 Sedan)
it depend what you call stalling... i have about 30 pounds removed from the rotating assembly and because of this when i ride the clutch its hard not to stall with an XTreme (ACT) so i you up the idel to 850-1000 your fine.. i had mine to 650 in town with hondata and ran smooth in 30 degree temp (celcius) but when it got colder then it would have a tendancy to stall...
so... yes the base lobes are a bit more aggresive..

hmmm
the VTEC profile is the same, so the differnce is you don't make more power for 0-VTEC on the 2A, while with the 2 you do becuase it is more agressive.

Im pretty sure the stage 2s have the same upgraded idle lobe that the stage 3s have.....my stage 2s dont idle for beans, but I did the cams, flywheel, clutch, and crank pulley all at once so I stall more than i idle.....It will get better when tuned though....id rather have the extra low end grunt then a perfect idle

Re: (NXLude)
so as a general consensus...are there people running or would recommend running stage III Crower n/a cams for say...a daily driven h22 accord hopefully relying on 91 oct gas. the highest comp pistons i could run and still rely on 91 is 12.2 according to rick from IB. so any help would be appreciated. of course i would buy the accompanying valvetrain to support them but junIIIs are just too expensive.
