cold weather suspension creaks (5th gen)
I live where it gets damn cold winters. Whenever it gets below 30 or so i get a nasty creaking sound that seems like its comming left side strut. I only hear this sound when starting off or accelerating from mild speeds (when the nose picks up)- it seems to go away at higher speeds and dosnt occure when when hitting bumps or such. I cant make the car do it when its parked by pushing or lifting on the front end. Anyone else have this problem?
Everything performs pretty good driving, im worried it might be a shock or ball joint on its way out. Mystery noises drive me nuts and my next step is to lay on the engine while a friend drives down the road.

Re: cold weather suspension creaks (Sticky Tires)
it's just cold rubber bushings. rubber gets hard when it's cold. unless you have urethane bushings, they tend to be noisy anytime

Stock suspension. Think i should go nuts with a can of wd40 or what? Nothing like hearing your nice new prelude creak and rattle like a kia huh. Maybe shes just wants me to move to CA.
bdb: You're right, laying on the engine might disrupt the system that we want to keep isoated durring observation, so maybe lay on a long plank sticking out of another cars trunk while both are driving closly down the road (the prelude with an open hood)... Think the local facist guestapo townie cops might give me a problem doing this? jk.

Re: cold weather suspension creaks (5200BB6)
I have the same problem. I have a 97 SH and I found that the linkage to the swaybars were loose/needs replacing. There is also a recall on the 97 SH's front upper drivers side I believe balljoint, so you might want to get some info on that. Hope this helps.
My solution is that im just going to get a set of suspension techniques sway bars front and rear and some new bushings and then suspension in the future. I really hope this solves the clanking as it sounds like me wheels are going to fall off in the winter.
