Default catalytic converter problems... exhaust pieces from varying years of prelude used, please help!!

ok, heres my big situation...... some know i gotta see the state ref, so i put all the stock stuff on, everything is done, but the exhaust

heres the issue...
i have a 98 base prelude, the stock header im borrowing is from a 2000 base, the cat is from a 2000 SH, and the rest of the exhaust piping is from a 99 base to my 98 muffler.

the problem...
the 2000 SH cat wont connect to the 2000 header, nor the 99 exhaust piping. so i looked at this cat and compared it to my thrashed 98, they are the same.... same size, and flanges

so did the cats change after 98? or maybe the b pipe on the stock header?
i was thinkin maybe just goin to an exhaust shop and have the reflange the cat....

what should i do?!?!?!?!?
TIA

I don't know if you have your parts right. From my Helms, (if I am reading it right) :

SH A-Pipe is longer than base.

SH Cat is longer than base.

SH B-Pipe is much shorter than base.

Then again, my helms is labelled 97-99, so maybe there were some changes made in 2000. That could be why your dead cat appears to be the same as the SH cat.

In any case, since you have the cat from a 2000 SH, you probably need the a and b pipe from the same. I don't know if that means you need the header from it as well.

Or you can try to find yourself a cat from a 99 or earlier base model, seems simpler that way.

a cat thats pre 99 looks exactly like my 98, which looks exactly like the 2000 SH cat i have..... so damn, im just confused of what parts to swap....

what if i get a cat from a 2000 base? i can try to borrow the cat from the owner of the 2000 base header im usin now... but what if that doesnt connect to the 99 piping? this sucks!!

thanx, but the cat i have looks exactly like my 98, and im sure ur 97 is the same too.... so i think where im screwed is the b pipe, im thinkin the b pipe is different from a 98 and 2000, and everyone says the sh is different too, so its the b pipe, and the fact that im assumin the SH cat is swtiched around for those years is whats messin it up..... hope that made sense.

and yea, no more boost, got my hood popped by the cops, so now i gotta see the state ref, so i sold the turbo kit, and so now im gonna go greddy since it is almost carb legal here in cali, so im gonna be turbo again, but i just wanna be as legal as possible.

i'll sell you my GReddy kit, it already has the metal plate on the compressor, you just need to get your hands on a sticker
