i heard for synthetic the longer you run it the better (4-6k miles)

what about just regular oil? any takes on that?

and the how many quarts are you guys putting into your h22s.

i usually put just a gallon =4 quarts but when ever i measure the dip stick it's barely passing the first dot. you think i need to add another half quart?

Besides not being made by Fram what are the other advantages of the S 2000 filter on the Prelude?

larger filter, more filtering media.

i believe this comes at the cost of a little bit of oil pressure though.

I want to give it a try. What year should I buy the S 2000 filter for? My Lude is a 96. I currently use a K&N filter.

Yeah you need to add some, the H22 takes nearly 5 quarts. Check your manual, I don't have mine in front of me but it's like 4.8 quarts per oil change.

Good lord people, 2k and 4k? Any half decent synthetic will last AT LEAST 7500 miles; PERIOD. If you want to waste money please throw it my way. I change my oil @ 10-12k, and have gotten it tested only to find that there's still 5k of life still in there. This is just with cheapest full synthetic on the market, Mobil 1.

For the s2k filter, just go to a honda dealership parts desk and ask for a "s2000 oil filter and washer." They are made by toyo roki.

For the people here that use Mobile 1 synthetic oil, you say you change the oil every 4k~5k miles but didn't say every how many months. Do you change it every 4~5 months?

mobil 1 is a great daily synthetic but not made for the track so even if u do use it there, it's highly recommended u change it once ur done.

Everyone here says how great synthetic oil is... but I think you're forgetting that the engine has 130,000 miles. If you've been using non-synthetic (regular) oil all this time, why not stick with it?

If your engine burns regular oil, it is almost guaranteed that it will burn even more with synthetic, as it is much thinner, and flows easier. Also, synthetic oil affects the seals... so beware with a high mileage engine... just a heads up, synthetic isn't going to solve any problems if that's what you're looking for.

And in my opinion, 2-3k for synthetic change is way too often, but hey, if that's what makes you happy, then go nuts.

OP: if it has had dino oil before, keep using it

if you want to know what synthetic to run, use mobil1 10w-30 and change it every 8000 miles, and use a better filter than the FRAM crap....

Honda recomends 5w-30 oil. whats the benefit or reasoning behind running 10w-30? Local weather highs and lows?

Also, Honda makes a filter for our engines. It is the right size so you dont lose oil pressure and i'm hoping its made better than a fram. Any comments on that?

H23a1 - 5w-30

I just called my local Honda monger and they recommended 5w-30 for my h22a4. I only have the helms for a 4th gen. Does anyone have a 5th gen helms to confirm this?

manual states that if your temperatures are above freezing you can run either 5-30 or 10-30.

it's fine if you actually had some valuable information to contradict what i said with, but saying what you did with no backup? worthless.
