Re: m2b4 shifting issues
Make sure your clutch fluid is full, or no air is getting in the line. Low on clutch fluid would do this since it wouldnt be stopping the syncros to allow a smooth transition. You might just have to bleed the clutch line there are a couple of ways u can do it.
But, if it didnt happen all of the sudden i would point to bad synchros... typical in older h-series trannys.. they dont seem to last as long as the b-series..i swapped my trans 3 times before i ended up with one that functions "ALMOST" perfectly (stock differential kept breaking, and all of them had bad syncros lol. If they are bad, it will just grind when trying to shift in gear, unless you do what your saying and then yea, it will go in gear when the gears line up perfectly..
i learned how to drive manual when i bought my 92 lude. had a bad second, third, and fifth... lining up the gears was the only way i could drive for 2 months till i had it swapped.
If your lookin to spend some money get some carbon coated syncros and an lsd so u dont have to be bothered with a tranny swap every so often..especially if you love driving hard. may as well throw in a final gear too if your doing all of that and have it apart. If you want to build it and turbo.. honestly id build the transmission first so u dont have to worry about it...or so i have learned in my lude experiences in past 4 years. LSD will help put more power to the ground also.

Re: m2b4 shifting issues
It may be the clutch fluid. It's done this since the swap. What I can't figure out is why third shifts so fast though. Earlier I was in the parkin lot and couldn't get any ger to go in. Third went and but reverse (the gear I needed) never would. Luckily I was on a hill so I just rolled back. I had to stick it to first to get it in the I could go and hit the gears with easy throttle.
Not saying it's the best in the world but the m2b4 has a factory LSD

You said since the swap, just to be sure does that include the transmission or is it the same one with a new motor like i just did.
Oh and if u have to get it in first or reverse turn off the car and then put it in gear...but hopefully you just fix the problem lol.

Re: m2b4 shifting issues
i installed the engine and trans into my civic. this morning while it was cool outside eveything was great. well second still has to be shifted slowly. it doesn't grind it just wont go. it feels like the cable stretches or something. the shifter goes way back but won't engage. just hold it for a few seconds and it clicks in.

That's wierd.. could be something else with the tranny besides the syncro too, if all the other gears work its prob not the cable.

Re: m2b4 shifting issues
my inner cable is poking through the outer when going into 2nd and 4th. the person that had the setup before me did a horrible job of routing the cables. so they got messed up.

What does my floor mat have to do with my shifter cables being worn? Beside my car has the floor mat holder that keeps the floor mat in spot.

Re: m2b4 shifting issues
if my toyota gets the mat slid under the clutch pedal it wont go in gear took me a while to figure it out. felt like a dummy when i did tho. just thought it could be.

oh i see. no the shift cables are frayed. the dumb *** who installed this swap in the other car routed the vables all wrong and messed them up. so need to go to a junk yard and get new ones.

Got new cables. $12 at the junk yard. Shifts tons better. Come to find out the inner cable was broke and on had a few strands holding it all together.
