Annoying squeal/squeaky noise on start up
Whenever I start up my car, there's a loud squeal/squeaky noise. I just recently changed my PS and Alt/AC belts...but is the noise because it's too loose or too tight?
And when I let go of the clutch after I start the car, the noise goes away? Is that another problem?...cuz how is the clutch being engaged affect the belts?
Anyone have a clue? I'm going to have to recheck the belts again. I HOPE it's just the belts...

hey,
Tighten your belts...the squeakig is the belt slipping on the pulley. It is prolly just a coincidence with the clutch thing. After the belt heats up it will grab the pulley and stop sqeaking(expansion)

He's back! Where have you been hiding?
Yea, we have the car running for some time now...just gotta fine tune it. There's an H22a4 sitting in there now. But it's no where near being up to perfect as evident on it's 16 sec runs.
So what do you plan on getting next? Make it a Honda..

16 seconds huh. Well, not sure what I am going to get. Prelude VTEC, 4th Gen. Nissan Maxima SE 5 speed, or what I want most, a Porsche 928 S4, or GTS if its affordable.
In the short time I owned the VR-4 it spun a bearing, had to replace the motor, lost 3rd gear, replaced the transmission, and the transfer case locked up, which was quite scary. I think I will pass on another one of those. It was fun though.
Let me know if you ever need help working on it, you know how I love Preludes.
BTW, I have been around, just haven't been over here much lately.

Man, I never knew VR-4s can be that bothersome! But then again, the Eclipse is on it's 3rd motor as well....I think I'm sticking with Honda from now on.
I did have a question though...when you had your 4G, I remember you said you had a shortened final drive. Where the heck did you get it?

Get another 4th gen VTEC warren. Just do the same bolt-ons you did before and be happy. Your car was awfully quick before you opened up the motor.

Sorry Moe, I no longer have a connection for the tranny, but here is a company that can provide you with a custom final drive of 4.714:1
http://www.housemanautosport.com/index.html
Probably won't be cheap though.
Mike, it was VERY quick after the built motor was finally tuned right and the CM flywheel and stage 4 were installed. I never got a chance to run it again though, before selling it. It felt a little quicker though. Who knows.

They sold it to a Lawyer in south Atlanta, after the guy offered him even more than I got.
I have know idea what its status is now. He told me he wished he had kept it. Sounds familiar.
